I got 2142 on Friday, I log in with my vet status, get my unlock etc etc...but I couldn't join a server...

thinking that it was my rig, I spent most of yesterday morning getting my rig updated...

NOW..I can't even log in....I've tried at random times ever since yesterday afternoon and all I get is "Contacting EA Master Server.................could not login, duh duh duh...." No single player mode unless you login so bascially I spent $50 to look at a login screen?  <rolls eyes>

I'm >< that close to getting rid of this game....which is sad because I was really looking forward to this game.

sorry for the random rant...but this is pretty rediculous

downloaded the patch....that was the first thing I did

pb is another issue....I downloaded pbsetup, but when I run it, it says "since this is the first time running we must check for updates", starts checking then gives me "Downloading  a global config file failed for the following reason: couldn't connect to host"

okay...I've solved the login issue (my ISP has a thing where it blocks a lot of traffic if an anti-virus is not activated on my pc)

but I'm still having my performance issues....I fall to 2 fps when I'm loading a map and desktop crash as soon as I hit Join Server.....

Is your pc up to running it mabye you got setting on high or somthing?

I've got EVERYTHING set to low...

I'm running in single player and my fps is no higher than 19

and I just don't get it....my rig meets the minimum requirements to play the game...so the fact that I'm having nothing but problems is really getting annoying

Rebuild your rig, Full OS reinstall, buy USB/Firewire back drive to move critical data off drive prior to Format.
Update all Windows Patches/All Driver updates for Sound/Video.
Reinstall only BF2142 and check performance.

Want me to do it for you at $60/hr.

I wish I could...but I got way too much school-related stuff on here and I don't want to risk forgetting about something...that and to do that would be an entire day's work and I just don't have that kind of patience


there has to be something I can do to stop the massive drop in fps....idle at the login screen I'm 100 fps but anywhere else I fall to 30.....then when I try to load a map it falls to 5 and never gets higher than 20. there has to be.
