Dear god fuckin help me :(

Ive searched this and have found people with the same problem, but the threads didnt help me. So im seeing if I can get new advice.

I did a system restore and reinstalled bf2. Everything else worked fine after the restore, my internet, and every other program

But, I join ANY bf2 server, and now for some reason every 2 minutes I get a lag spike that lasts 2-3 seconds. Its annoying as hell and I want to throw my comp out a window. Please, any help is appreciated.

I have the same problems. Are your graphics settings the same as they were before?

Yeah....
I dont think its internet lag because my ping is always low....

It makes flying a chopper rather difficult. I run into buildings quite often! My lag hits me like every 30 seconds to a minute....cant find a way to stop it.

Even worse in a jet. Every fucking time I start to do good, I fucking lag while turning and crash. Was just on wake where the USMC capped airfield, I waited half a round and finally stole a jet from them (the f18), I get up, shoot down both f35s then a minute later lag and fucking crash.

I cant take it anymore.

I'm to the point of wiping my hard drive clean and re-installing everything.

As an added bonus to me....generally speaking I have to play BF2 off my laptop. Well, once my wireless card / mobo get hot after being on for a cuople of hours...my wireless card starts dropping connection. I dont even want to think of the hundreds, no thousands of points I've lost because of that.

I've even tried disabling my swap file and increasing it. I've changed the processor priority on the game. Closing out of all background tasks. Numerious registry sweeps. No spy ware ( and no, I don't have 2142 on my computer), no viruses...just DICE programs.

I do know that my game ran a lot better before BF2 was all patched to hell and back.

Try going into task manager and exiting everything that looks strange. (but use your head, don't exit things like explorer.

And if you type start > run

Then type msconfig

You can stop the starting up when the PC starts under the startup tab.

Also, try running virus/spyware scanners.

I reset my router a few times, then stopped playing for a few weeks, that fixed it the first time I had this problem. The second time, i did a defragment and it somehow fixed it. But seeing as you just did a full system restore, ur system shouldn't be all fucked.

Also deleted my cache, but that didnt help.
I did everything I previously had/did before the system restore. What Im trying to remember is if I forgot anything

Ive set the automatic pb checks to 500
Ive deleted intro vids

Dont remember what else. I think I downloaded one of the tweaked drivers, which I had previously

there was thread here a while ago that said something about changing the amount of time punkbuster scans your system, sorry but I dont remember the syntax but I'm sure if you searchit you'll find it...it changes the amount of time punkbuster scans your system from every minute or so to every 500 mins..something like that ....anyway it worked for me.....so all I can tel you is search for that punkbuster scan thing..sorry i couldnt be more help but I had similar problem and did that it went away

How do you change the punkbuster checks?

I know I tried re-installing punkbuster - no effect.

I use wireless. And jesus, I just changed half my vid settings to low and still get the lag in intervals. So its not my vid settings or anything...

Yeah...the video settings don't have an impact on my system for the lag bursts. My k/d ratio would be sooo much better without the lag issue....

Im so fucking pissed. Get in a j10 on wake, and on my first pass on the carrier I fucking lag and fly into the boat bay! YAAAAAAAY!

I think its your wireless. Not good for playing bf2.
