I read somewhere that a medical study showed that flip flops can lead to male impotency.

Don't those researchers have anything better to do?

Every thing causes male impotency.

Hell, over zealous sex can lead to male impotency, for Christ's sake.

Indeed. Research has show that the two most common forms of research are into causes of male impotency and cancer. Everything causes both, although rarely at the same time.  In fact, some studies have shown that one often leads to the other. In either order.

The bulk of remaining research is pointless, and revolves mostly around coming up with mathematical formulae for things which have no conceivable use of a mathematical formula. Such as the formula that describes how funny a forum post is, which seems to contain 5 variables, 4 of which are completely unknowable factors with no measurement system, and no units. The fifth is the "funniness value", the result of the equation.

Almost all of the above is based on fact, although some unspecified parts may subsequently be proven to be completely fictitious and off the top of my head.

You need to quote your source material if you are going to go off like that.  Or some of us more bitter cynical types are just going to think that you are plowing smoke up our assess and trying to cause colon cancer to boot.

I can verify that isn't true.  I wear flip flops all the time and every morning I wake up the same way I did when I was 13, much to my girlfriend's feigned delight.

Well, I wear sandles most of the time during the summer and I wake up the same way I woke up when I was 13 too.  Single and hating it.  So there....

All threads over a given length eventually make it to some sort of discussion of genitalia.  It's a certian as death and taxes.

All my fault I know... sorry about that.

This thread has no real topic, so I'm sure we'll move on to other things before too long. If not, I'll just post something at a compelete tangent. I like doing that.

I think the MEC team should have a new class, not sure what it should be called but instead of giving out ammo packs or health packs they could wip out a small child to use as a human shield!  If the attacker kills the child they lose points just like a tk...

Human shields or when SpecOps blows up commander assets have the engineers erect signs saying it was a baby formula factory or something like that.  I think the MEC should also have stone throwing kids running around that you can't shoot or you lose points.

As far as GTA desensitizing me, GTA never had the chance.  The 10:00 o'clock news got to me first and made me hate my fellow man...

Great posts, Sarum, and excellent writing! Are you in the communications business, by any chance?

I think the cigar for commanders is a keeper. And if it's a cigar, it has to be Cuban, sorry for the Helms-Burton diehards out there.

Anybody knows if it's illegal for US soldiers to smoke cubans while abroad? It looks suspiciously close to breaking Sec. 103 (Prohibition against indirect financing of Cuba) of the Helms-Burton law.

But then again, having US troops on mainland China is probably not legal either...

Cheers!

I don't know about the other forces, but the Air Force frowns heavily on smoking in general.  I beleive the latest goal they set is for all Air Force personnel to be smoke free by 2010 or they will be discharged.  As for smoking Cubans overseas or anywhere for that matter, anything illegal is seized if found during inspections and the perpetrator gets punished for whatever law he broke by possessing it.  So, if they they're gonna smoke 'em they'd have to be pretty damn careful who saw them.

I don't know if the Army is trying to be "Smoke Free" or not, but the biggest rule I've ever heard of Army wise is that there is no smoking within X feet of gov't buildings, it is always either that or smoking in the designated areas only.  Dip is wide spread though.  As far as smoking Cubans, if you aren't in America you can do it.  I'm almost certain, but someone might be able to correct me, that the documentation states either that you can not sell them or that you can not import them.  It doesn't say anything about purchasing them.  Either way, that doesn't matter, because those are the U.S.A.'s laws.  The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) does not have any such article prohibiting the sale, use, or possession of such things.  Soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines are only required to live by the Host Nations laws and if that nation does or does not allow it, that is up to them.  (Note that a commander might try to implement his own rules and regulations about it, but that would only apply to the men and women under his command.)

Nope, I'm a programmer-geek with next to no communication skills. But I do enjoy writing, I'm not good enough to write anything novel-length, or really do more than a page or so cohesively. Forum posts are about the right length for me.

And as for the troops... the missions descriptions give the impression (to me at least) that it's all but an unprovoked invasion of mainland china by some newly formed ultra-agressive division of the USMC. The chinese are always doing makeshift defence in front of rapidly advancing "active component bridges" or somesuch. I don't suppose that's "legal", but since when has war been about playing by the rules?

True dat man.  I forgot they have different laws overseas.  Should've done my research on the legality of the cubans, too.  If the commander DID set rules against it, though, it would be an order, and therefore covered under the UCMJ and punishable as such.
