I played Insomnia Dalian 24/7 yesterday, and it had 48/64 players when I 1st joined.
before joining I set my settings to this-

Terrain- High
Effects- High
Geometry- High
Textures- High
Lighting- Medium
Dynamic Lighting- High
Dynamic Shadows- High
Texture Filtering- High
AA- 4x
100% View Distance
1024x768

Average FPS 45-50FPS. 70+ FPS when not involved in any fighting.
It was very much playable. I got an average of about 60+ FPS in the attack choppers and surpsingly even higher in the jets, even when flying low to the ground. I dod however get alot of loading pauses with "lighting" set to high, so I reduced it to medium and the game was silky smooth. I got no loading pauses, my lag was more so FPS related, but even at 30FPS the game was smooth.

I could get better FPS than what I did, but my CPU is not up to the task of running at a consistent FPS during combat, but never the less, very playable.

I was always told 2GB RAM is neccasary, and I still find this to be relatively true, but my FPS difference between medium and high textures was 10% at most.

Any comments or opinion as to how this is possible? Dalian Plant isnt exactly a Texture intense map, so im expecting more lag on maps like Dragon valley or Daqing.

Why do all topics have to have dumb posts like "ok" in them.
Do you really have nothing bettet to do, than read an entire topic only to post "ok".

Its really getting annoying, all my topics and other posters topics always seem to have brainless answers like this. Either add something relevant to the topic or dont post.

But your not running 99FPS average... So it is not considerable.

the highest fps you can achieve is limited by your refresh rate anyway

most people run around 70hz so you wouldnt see any gain over 70fps anyway

I dont need 99FPS.
I'm gonna go ahead and keep textures on High for now, and if need be lower effects and shadows if I ever need the FPS that badly.

What are you talking about lol?
They cast shadows for players and vehicles. 'Lighting" only cast shadows for inatimate objects such as buildings.

Your getting lighting and dyn shadows confused. Both do cast shadows, but for different things in-game.
Dyn shadows= vehicles, players and movable objects..lighting creates ahdows for buildings and unmovable objects.

I've gotten fps rates in the 90s and 80s in bf2. MY monitor is set to 75 mhz And i've also gotten 250 fps on the ut 2004 menu.
