It was bad in CSS, then they fixed it (although people still complain).
I wonder if DICE will fix this. Well, they might IF somebody actually raises the issue with them rather than post it up on some forum. Seriously, send it to them and see what they say.

Even though I dont have it, and never will buy it, it would be interesting to see if its the same in 2142....

That was some pretty interesting footage.
And I wouldn't call it bad aiming, or whatever the troll said above. Fairly convincing display of how hitting the man sometimes only brings out dust, but TRAILING him gets the kill.
The absolute best part was the ending: He's got the shotgun, and he's blasting the crap out of the sniper. Dust is flying off his moldy string suit like it was a ninety-year old carpet getting beaten for the first time. CRACK-POOOF....CRACK-POOOOF...no kill...roflcopter

After watching the movie i came to the conclusion that the guy who made the movie got a shitty aim, no clue about BF2 and the server got one of the worst hitdetections out there. A server restart or getting a good server and not using a C64 for Bf2 should do the job.

Don't blame the game for your lack of skill. The projectile travels with a velocity and therefore you're not able to hit the target if you aim exactly on it and the target moves. Lead it and you would've hit it everytime.

Hitdetection/registration due to a laggy server is something completely different, in the video you see a perfect example of an aim-newb.

After watching the rest of the video, the server is shit and your aim. ^^

You may have a point there, but you can't ignore the fact that there is something very wrong with hit detectionin BF2. I regularily play on the EU server, where my ping never excedes 20, and is usually around 13. However, when I shoot someone across a road in the head, and they are stationary and it doesn't hit, you cannot blame lag for that. That's just one example, but it happens enough to me to know that it isn't lag/shitty shooting, and it is a genuine problem with the game.

I admit that the BF2 hitdetection sometimes is just wrong. I see what you mean, but i can tell you out of own experience after owning several BF2 servers that a low ping isn't everything. On our old ranked server my ping never exceeds 13-15 ms but still my shoot's werent registering. The problem was that there were to many virtual machines runnning on the server and the server couldn't handle the load.

Have you noticed that hit detection seems to have gotten alot worst since 1.4? Or is it just me I find it really frustrating trying to knife a sniper and only get dust.

it does seem that way. I also never got random lag and sudden movements I didn't do, not to mention my keyboard locking up for as long as 5 seconds.

Oh, it changes things, but it differs on every server. and as I have no favourite servers, it really doesn't help much. For instance, I had a clan match against Elunex, and I had no problems with it set to 400, then I played against Gamert right after that and it was terrible - when I set it back to 100 things were fine again.

CSS ftw, in four years of playing it I've been absolutely sure whether or not I hit someone.

ANother thing that really gets me is the TV missles.
I'm pretty good with them, but its annoying that the only good hitboxes seem to be the tail, belly and nose..

If you aim for the cockpit or middle of the body it'll normally go right through.

But in single player this problem is non-existent so perhaps its a server issue. But in TWL 2v2 chopper matches or just general public servers it can be annoying.

you don't learn, you develop a feel for it. Back in ol' cs 1.5 I remember players that were incredible with the AWP - yet when they shot people they aimed behind them. You get to know how to do it, just like how press W becomes move forward and press r becomes reload - you don't think, you do it.
