As we all know the 2012 olympics are in london, and there are some great plans set for it to be the worlds biggest sports centre, but i much doubt they will finish this in time.....i cant remember the last time we ever finished anything ontime!

I dont think it will be ready for the olympics..anyone else agree??

If you bring in some labour laws to reduce the power of the unions you're in with a shot. Good luck doing that though. Having said that, just about every olympics is always a panic to be ready on time (except Beijing, they'll be fine) but they generally get there (Athens was not 100% ready, but ready enough to do the job). No reason to think London will be any different. The big question is, will QEII open them or will she have stood down by then?

Dont worry, they can just host them at Crystal Palace, out 'National Sports Center'. What a shit hole that is.

I heard on radio that no olympics has ever been delivered late.  Remember Athens? Looked late but was on time.

The Millenium Stadium (Cardiff) was running late and then to the horror of local residents the bulding contractors made staff work 24 hours, in shifts to get it ready. It was ready and we have never looked back.

The athletics stadium for the games is being touted to football clubs to use after the games have finished. (like Man City/Commonwealth Games).  The capacity for the games will be 80k but reduced to 20k once the games have ended.  West Ham Utd have been in talks about having the stadium but I doubt if they are interested now they know the reduced capacity (if it goes ahead).  This may now appeal to clubs like Leyton Orient.

Companies get given the go ahead for organising the opening and closing ceromanies, from what I gather the contracts for this are worth approx £10m.  Big money can be made by your country hosting the games and I know some events will hopefully be in my area so as a businessman and a sports fan I'm delighted.

where are they going to do the whitewater runs? I mean, do you have that over there? It just seems you're lacking mountains and all, then again, it's europe, not too much trouble to jump the channel and go elsewhere.
After witnessing up close the horrible spectacle that was the Atlanta olympics, lemme give you a little bit of advice, PREPARE TO BE EMBARASSED. whet the hell were they thinking with that mascot??

i doubt we will get it on time TBH, unless labour gets kicked out before then, then the conservatives would whant to make it a "point" to be finished. and labour are /beging funny insulting voice  "big old softies" /end funy voice insulting mode. they are idoits IMHO what is up with immagration and our legal stystem, i mean somtimes  you get better treatment being a iligal immagrant, who commits murder, and theyll be out in about5 years anyway.

/end rant

IMHO we wont be ready, unless labour gets icked out of power, (or tony blair can stay in and make it his "legacy" and face it, that isnt going to happen)

Britiain was great back then, now its just obsessed with failure and a morbid desire to see everything turn out badly.

Saying that, I do think it will be completed on time but there will be some serious shortcuts and corrupt dealings done. The area in London which will be turned in to the Olympic Park is one of the most heavily poluted areas in the country, the government has a habit of getting involved in prestige projects and mucking them up beyone belief and the proposed transport links will probably not be ready in time. Add to that and you will have "Red Ken" the mayor spouting off his own sense of lunacy at every opportunity and Lord Coe saying what a success everything will be (he gets wheeled out because a) he's a Lord and b) because he used to be a runner). God its going to be grim...

Anyone looking for someone to house sit for, say a year, sometime around 2012?
