Is there a way, without actually opening up my PC and removing it, to find out exactly what kind of RAM i have? Someone is sending me some free sticks and i would like to know if i'll even be able to use them.
use a free prog called cpuz.
well i have 3dmark05 and when i look at the computer's details it tells me about the ram
3d mark aint gunna tell u bout ram, just how much u got
CPU-Z is good, if the SPD has info in it, it may tell u then manufacturing date, model, Rated Frequencies etc etc

Crucial Technologies have a free online scanner - hit the button and it tells you RAM compatible with your system.

Or try Aida32, everything you wanted to know about your computer. And stuff you didnt. Like how many transistors are in your CPU. Who cares? No one, but its fun to poke around with the info.
thats a funny app.
