I reckon, in the long run, it would make the soldier less combat efficient. Too much short term thinking going around imo.

I dunno, I'm not a soldier so i can't say anything tbh. What do you guys think?

Sounds like a dumb idea. Last thing you want in a combat zone is to be running on empty.

I watched a show a while back about sleep. They say that no one knows exactly why we need to sleep but they also said that without sleep, we would eventually die. I've stayed up for 4 days before. "Cocaine's a hell of a drug."

Nas told me that "sleep is the cousin of death". I'm on the fence here.

If this is true then your short term thinking won't be a problem.

Let's get usmarine's or gunslinger's opinion on it.

I am in Iraq, and I must say.... although they do try and give troops downtime (as much as possible depending on the situation) There are many times we are running ragged, staying outside the wire for 12 hours comming back eating and heading back out because someone did something foolish and now we have to go pull them out of hot water or someone decides they want to drop mortars on our FOB..... for every hour outside the wire, it seems like its 4...and your body thinks its 4...mabe its the weight of the gear and the adrenaline and the fact you are trying tocover every angle constantly trying not to get complacent....
I take enrgy pills..... RED LINE for the win!! i also have a bad addiction to Red Bull..... night misisons that follow a busy day of outside the wire activities tend to wear you down fast.... I usually take 3 red lines, and 2 red bulls...that keeps me awake for about 5 hours... the good news redline gives you the energy....none of the twitchy edginess.

I'd have to say it's  a really bad idea I didn't read the whole thing. But you're body needs rest and with 2 days awake when it crashes you're going to be out for at least a day. And by out I mean nothing would be able to wake you. Which would be really bad, also I think that in intense combat your adrinaline would be running like crazy...
