I might not like to have ads posted blatantly in my face. I do hate commercials probably more then any of you. However, I don't see how its much different then RL. For instance, we watch sports. If you look they have ads everywhere, and they are bright and shiny; they try to draw you eye to them. However, you don't pay attention, you are too interested in the game.

Well, I don't know about the download, since I bought my copy from a shop.

I know damn well though that I wouldn't download a game unless I could read the EULA first.

If people really are this bothered about the ingame ads why not just group together all the people on the various BF2142 sites, clans and communities and get everyone to boycot any company that advertises ingame. Then we'll see how much anyone wants to pay to get their adverts in-game.

Sorry? Isn't paying a premium to host a ranked server, compared to the cost of hosting a non ranked server or a server for another game enough? I'd think that EA would bundle the costs to host those services right into the price of a ranked server, because that's apparently what happened in Battlefield 2. Were they crying because they were losing money? Did ranked server prices go DOWN? Does the community get any benefit?

Ohhh... Poor international mega-company! AFAIC, people constantly buying the games, the add-on packs and the servers should be enough!

personally, I see this as a sign that EA knows 2142 will be a slow seller. BF2 NEVER was finished.
Its still in beta form as we know it. And now they expect people to buy 2142. Hahahahaha..

I can't believe the people who believe EA is putting spyware/adware in 2142. Dangit, all it is is making sure you are shown time and location-appropiate ads (for instance, no European ads in America, and maybe some advertisers don't advertise the entire day), plus tracking how long you look at those ads.

Simply a few ads where there would be ads anyways. There will still be billboards in the year 2142, and they had to fill them up with something... why not make money? It's what a company does.

People sometimes forget the Online gaming is a business. If you go to a pro football game you get hammered by ads left and right. You think you they will listen if you tell them you are not going to buy anymore tickets if they don't take down the ads?

Just played a few rounds of single player to have a play with the vehicles etc and found that at the end of each round bf2142.exe connects to ip address 72.32.5.13 on port 9962 (may be others but that's what my firewall recorded). When i ran a whois on this ip address it turned out to be allocated to:

In some sence people do have point about adds I personaly don't cear i will just rename the adds box so it will not come up and if BF2142 intro starts getting to me i will remove that 2

If people dont want adds i belive box ses contains spywere/adds ;D so you dont really have to install it its totaly up2 you

I get filling EA will relise what they done and I reakon they will remove it in next few patchis

I personaly bought the game 2 day and waiting for it to arrive I will install it and kick sum ass with or with out adds

Why all the hostility to those of us that don't care to see the ads and do block them? How many of you work at or are paid message board spammers for EA?
