Current global consumption levels could result in a large-scale ecosystem collapse by the middle of the century, environmental group WWF has warned.

Las time I opened a thread about ecology I got flamed because "you buy Al Gore's BS and National Geographic is biased".  This was said by WWF, do you believe them?

And the report says:
Terrestrial species had declined by 31% between 1970-2003, the findings showed.
It warned that if demand continued at the current rate, two planets would be needed to meet global demand by 2050.

Of course, it's the sun and the volcanos fault, it's not Humans' fault.</sarcasm>

Here you can read the whole report from WWF.

Well it is the suns fault. If there wasn't any sun, we wouldn't have any global warming, but if that were the case that'd be the least of our worries. The issue of the sun giving off inconsistent amounts of heat has been shown not to be the cause of recent temperature increaes.

It certainly isn't volcanoes fault. Volcanic eruptions contribute significantly towards global cooling. Although there has been research done suggesting underwater volcanoes could be contributing towards greenhouse gas emissions. These emissions count as only a small percentage of total greenhouse gas emissions, much, much lower than human contributions.

Global Consumption levels and Global Warming are two different topics.

Yeah, no shit the US, Canada, Aus, UK, etc consume ridiculous amounts of natural resources.  We need to conserve more, and use less nonrenewable resources.

That should not be news, it should be common sense.

this article smacks of evidence that eco-alarmism is the new refuge of the socialist movement

"if you buy this we die!! do not be successful!!! punish those that can afford more than you!!!"

they told us 30 years ago that the world would end in 10 years, ted danson did so again in the 80's, and yes, al gore said the same just a few months ago

deforestation is bad, that's why here, in good ol consumeristical capitalist US of A, the most evil overconsuming nation of the world, our timber companies plant more trees than they harvest. whether or not you believe that they do it out of the goodness of their hearts is irrelevant, because they also realize that if they didn't they'll no longer have an industry, you want to point fingers at people  (i know you may not have been necessarily, but the article sure was) point it at south america, africa, and increasingly asia, the highest rates of forested land loss in history, and they aren't replanting.
I'm all for conservationism, but the land is there for us to use. environmental protection is a great thing, but i tire of seeing it used as a tool by those suffering from class envy to punish those more successful than they. I wholly support capitalism, consumerism, and protecting the environment, and believe that all three can co-exist. just make sure your epa laws stay out of my wallet and my property and we'll be fine.

No disrespect to the OP, but it's quite pointless. People will always go "Well, if you disagree with me, it's evil leftist radical propaganda" instead of presenting an argument.
