Lost Connection Probelms? Got a Fix!

I've searched for this on this site and didn't get too much and I wasen't looking that closely.

I'm running a Athlon 4800 x2, and I've been getting alot of "Lost Connection" even with searching servers with a ping of 20. When I actual played through a round it was choppy, ranks/points didn't hit my HQ fast enough, and the total expiernece wasen't the coolest.

The problems is with Dual-Core set-ups (multi-threading). Boot up BF2142, go ahead and get to your 2142 HQ, Tab-Alt to desktop, and Alt/Crl delete. Find you BF2142.exe under processes, right click on it and set your affitivity. You'll see CPU 0 and CPU 1 checked, just uncheck CPU 1, so that your only running one processor to your BF2142. Smooth as butter now!!! Go kick some arse!!!

If I've posted this to the wrong section, my appologies. This for some/most my seem kindergarden-ish, but hopefully this helped out at least a couple of people.

you sure this works? haha i'm rather curious... and what loss connection? like loss connection from server and into the multiplayer interface or into the login screen?

right now, i'm suffering with EA Master --- losing connection... ugh...

I'm getting the message "Your connecion to the EA master server has been lost" after playing for about 4 mins. This is happening constantly. Although it does not happen in Bf2. I'm running an AMD 4200 X 2.

Do a search this has been talked about before. There is actually a patch out from AMD that fixes those issues.

I also know Microsoft has one out you just need to google and find it.

I've searched this forum and google and I don't see anything that has been tried that actually worked. You would think EA would have posted something on this issue if there was a fix.

Well crap! Does nothing for me since I have a normal 3500. I still get the "lost connection" every so often.

Follow the link above I have a AMD Dual Core and used to have the same problems with Connection lost until I patched up.

Ya, I saw this optimizer following some posts on 2142 (ea site) and it was from a guy tired of switching manually and wanted an automatic fix.

I haven't had to Hot Fix my AMD till BF2142 and everything else screems, so I don't want to mess with my timming anymore than I have to.

I'm screered!!!

I haven't had a problems logging into EA. Just trying to keep an in-game connection. Before I switched my aff.. I was trying to connect to servers with a low ping "Dissconnected". Then I tried to play on servers with a pig of +300 and was able to play longer on those than on a server with a ping of -30. Go figure I tried everything. Did this little fix and I'm back running smoothly and kick arse... +95 FPS!!!

I've got a 7950GX2, this may be helping smooth the game out with just the aff.. fix. Dun-No, could have nothing to do with it either??

k10verdose, this works for me! going into taskmanager, processes, right click > set affinity >uncheck cpu 1... now i'm running my game instead of nearly all medium and lighting/shadows on low, i have everything on high except dynamic lighting, lighting, dynamic shadows...

yet to boost geo and TF to high... despite this, my FPS still remains at 40-60 , however when i launch a pod and land on snow, my fps goes down to 12 for a split second...

Good stuff man! I wouldn't worry too much about the "Pod FPS" mine flickers a bit on the landing and launch, not enough that it ruins the game. I guess it's all the smoke and all the collision info.
