BUSH TODAY ON THIS WEEK WITH GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Well, listen, we've never been "stay the course", George. We have been "we will complete the mission, we will do our job and help achieve the goal", but we're constantly adjusting the tactics, constantly.

Edit: even better video than before

BUSH: We will stay the course. [8/30/06]
BUSH: We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. [8/4/05]
BUSH: We will stay the course until the job is done, Steve. And the temptation is to try to get the President or somebody to put a timetable on the definition of getting the job done. We’re just going to stay the course.  [12/15/03]
BUSH: And my message today to those in Iraq is: We’ll stay the course. [4/13/04]
BUSH: And that’s why we’re going to stay the course in Iraq. And that’s why when we say something in Iraq, we’re going to do it. [4/16/04]
BUSH: And so we’ve got tough action in Iraq. But we will stay the course. [4/5/04]

Another good one from Bush in the same youtube video:

"In my judgment, Maliki has got what it takes to lead a unity government."

LOL

Bush is clearly the expert on leading a unity government.

That kind of talk explains why he has zero credibility among many people.
Lies, its all lies!

On a side note though, thats probably the most coherent heap of words that I have ever heard from Bush.

That makes perfect sense.  Totally.  2+2=5.

Bush just said...foment sectarian violence...flawlessly.

I knew he had it in him somewhere. Someplace. English is like a second language to someone who is a native Texican speaker.

Wanna see an even more pathetic liar?  Cheney STILL says Al Qaeda had/has ties with Saddam.. He just said it again a few weeks ago.

These guys keep saying lies until everyone believes them.  They (Rove) know how dumb and gullable american people are and if we hear something enough, we'll believe it.  I find people all day who think liberals are the "cut and run" party though I have not heard of that phrase being used once or anything like it from dems.  Hannity just told american democrats to just stay home on November 7th because their vote doesn't count and if dems take congress, they'll have no idea how to defend the country.  Same thing when Kerry was running and winning the presidential election in '04...he wouldn't know how to defend the country.  Even my dear, but politically senile mother thinks Kerry would have run and hid after 9/11 (like Bush actually did after his 7 minute stupor).  Yet Kerry is the one that fought and served for his country in Vietnam while Bush cut and run.  So many backwards spins in politics to ensnare the feeble minds...

Not for me - for me it's just funny to watch the Bush administration implode. Not to mention flip-flopping on the single most important issue in our country today. Guess from now on we won't be hearing much about Dems being flip floppers eh?

It IS going to be a big deal for Republican voters though. They don't believe in gray areas or nuance - they want simplicity in binary. Policy explained by simple slogans. Three years of "we stay the course - they cut and run" now followed up by this fantastic punchline? That is not going to sit well with Jim-Bob Sixpack and his wife Marylou.

Edit: grammar

They're polititians. Of course they lie! It's their job. Blair lies almost incessantly, at least Bush doesn't seem to have the wit to lie well. But then Blair doesn't do a very good job of lying either, Saddam could launch WMDs in 45 minutes, yeah right.

Bush doesn't need things to be taken out of context to make him look like an idiot, he does a good job of that by himself. But at least he knows the stakes (that press conference was hilarious, "we infirm that" was a nice little line that made me chuckle).

A stable Iraq that can defend itself from itself.

Very good point.

Basically I ignore pretty much everything bush says. I follow his and his administrations actions. His word means shit.

I would bet money that if US forces (and the other 50 or so coalition of the willing members) pulled out, it would be a matter of a few weeks before the sunni resistence ended and it would begin stabilizing immediately.  The president has already mentioned Syria and Iran helping, and they surely would.  The country would then be worse off than it was with saddam in power (being a religious government), but it would be a stable one..suitable for the people or Iraq..hopefully.  Imagine Iraq and Iran friendly nations for the first time!  Maybe BUSH was right!!  By his invasion, the middle east will be free and at peace!....well, maybe he didn't say that exactly.

Well as far as we know your version of staying the course is the same kinda upchuck.. I really have no idea what our course of action for Iraq is and I don't know if we ever had a plan laid down for them. Other then giving them democratic elections, which we did, or building a police force, as far as I know we did that too.

It really wasn't a lead-in question it's a serious thought, did we ever have any real idea of how we were going to rebuild the country? Or was it a half assed attemped to do the right thing by an administration that doesn't seem to really think things through?
