Lag & ISP

I've had lag issues in Bf2 for a while, especially in any kind of combat, and besides hardware itself, I heard FPS problems could be related to my internet or ISP.

So may I ask how I could find out information about my ISP and if its causing lag in-game?
I have fast DSL. SBC to be exact. 40-70 ping average in servers.

Im just not sure what my ISP is nor how to get info on it.

LOL your ISP is SBC you just said it.

ISP = Internet Service Provider. (I.E. the people you send the check to so you can connect to the internet)

oh haha. Thank you. I'll give em a call tommorow.
I know everything about PC's rofl...I build them for my friends, but internet is the only aspect im completely uneducated on. I dont even know the various speeds.

You can try pinging the IP address of the server you are playing on. If you get a fast ping response once you have passed your ISP's default gateway, then it can be a internal networking issue with your ISP.

You can also run programs to determine your upload and download speeds. If this does not meet the information that is in your contract you can ask your ISP to correct this issue.

BTW, at 40 to 70 ping in BF2 is not that bad. It should not cause that much of a lag. I know that I have a ping rate within that range, and I only have lag when I first spawn on a new map. After that I have no issues.
