Bf2 SP uses 1.6 gig of ram on my computer. 1600x1200 everything high.Jodah3 wrote:
Yep, unless you use your comp for applications other than gaming. anything over 2GB is a waste of money. It'll be a few years yet before gaming software will take advantage of 4GB of RAM.Maj.Do wrote:
1 gb of 633 mhz . Also im sure 4 gig wont really help that much
I didn't say otherwise. If you are running 512/1GB, then getting some additional RAM will be the cheapest way to get a significant increase in performance on your PC in general, as well as BF2. What I said, however, was that after 2GB, you really are throwing your money to the wind by buying more RAM, as far as BF2 is concerned. Any increase in performance due to RAM at that point is undetectable by the human eye.A-Unit64 wrote:
True, but you do know that buying more ram will be the cheapest way to speed up your pc.Jodah3 wrote:

1g.
I have 3 slots, I use a twin 512 set, I'm looking to trade both of them for a gig stick, or maybe just buy a 1gig stick and add it to the last slot...(I've heard the 2gig sticks have issues)

my comp came with 256 but i got another 512 so i have 768 of pc2700. woohoo for my old comp, i have everything on low and it runs bf2 regular just fine, but i lag like fuckin crazy in sf even with everything as low as possible. i think i need to upgrade some stuff...
Don't we have a TECH section for these posts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wrong. You can definitely tell a difference (I know I can) when playing with 1GB vs. 2GB, especially on 64-player servers.Prodie wrote:
No sense in buying 2 GB if you have one......at least that's what they say.

i currently have 2 gig of ram looking for more cuz i wont faster and currently look for a new processer to speed things up but i cant cuz i to poor *(goes back in box on side of street)*
What if i buy 1 gb of ram. I have a 256 stick and 512 stick in my com. What will my com read the ram as? 1.7gb?
I could be wrong on this, so correct me if I am, but I believe that the computer will recognize the 1.7GB capacity of the ram, but each stick of ram will run at the speed of the slowest one. So if your 256mb stick is an old, slower one, you're going to be better off running just the 512+1gb at a faster speed.Ayumiz wrote:

2 gig here
756? You mean 768 right? a 256 and a 512 - for 756 you'd need a 500 mb stick...which im pretty sure they dun make =PAyumiz wrote:

I use 2 gig better than 1 gig because i always arrive last in every new round so 2 gig give me headstart now woot!
LOL, I hope you're talking about your video RAM there.Tyferra wrote:

1 GB here, but it's PC2700 since that's all my motherboard can handle. Upgraded from 512 and everything seems way smoother now.
So i gotta take out the 256 stick and insert a 1gb i am gonna buy?Jodah3 wrote:

2 gb here.
I used to play it on 512. It wasn't too bad, but at the beginning of levels I would have chop as the game was caching, which would go away after a short while. An upgrade to 1.5 gigs has removed that little bit of early game chop
1G here
2GB, you can really see the difference between 1GB and 2GB.
Loading is much faster and the game runs smoother.
