I find all the hatred and missunderstanding about Israel to be nothing more than a repeat of the rhetoric Hitler used to talk people into mass murder.
My family lost people in Europe making it stop.
Why, is the world so eager to listen to a bunch of crazy people spouting nonsense like the Jewish state doesn't have a right to exist?
What is the matter with you people? Can't you see you are being played for fools by anti-semites?
You can upset our traditions all you want ATG. Or at least you can try.
You know what? I could say the same thing: "What is the matter with you people? Can't you see you are being played for fools by the Israeli Lobby?"
But that would prove nothing. Yes, there are anti-semites everywhere (NOT just in Europe yes?) and they are exerting quite the influence on people. And of course, there is the Israeli propaganda machine, it too controlling public opinion in a large extent.
The difference: I for one don't hate the Israeli people. They are mere pawns dragged down this path by their political and religious leaders.
And yes, the Israeli people do have the right to live in Palestine. The UN 1947 partition plan seems to be quite fair in dividing the region. Yet you cannot deny that the proportions the Israeli State has today have no historical basis. Israel has gone way over the line both on a territorial basis as well as in the way they are handling the Palestinians.
Stop hiding behind your finger: admit that Israel has been on the offensive for 50 years. Do not listen to what Israeli generals are telling you about supposed terrorists hiding behind civilians and bullshit like that, look at the map as it is today. The Palestinians are being massively exterminated. Let's agree on these basics and then maybe we can move on to something more constructive about the future of the region.
