Well this is a big ask but can someone do a question or two of my science homework or else Miss Wotkins will rip my balls off.

1a) Explain how a plant shoot takes in water from a beaker

b) A student placed a potometer on a bench in the lab and took five readings of the distance moved by the bubble in 10 minutes. The readings were 4.5, 5.2, 4.8 4.7 and 5.0 cm

Calculate the mean distance travelled by the bubble in ten minutes

c)The student then did a load of shit... and placed a fan near the potometer and measured the mean distance of the bubble in 10 minutes.

How would you expect the result of this experiment to compare with that of the first experiment?

d) The student again did a load of bullshit... and put a plastic bag over the shoot.

How would you expect the result of this experiment to compare with that of the first experiment?

An remember if anyone finds it in their heart to help me out, don't forget to show your working out for 1b

Thank you

1b) (4.5+5.2+4.8+4.7+5.0)/5 (add them together, divide by the numbers, aka average)
1c) it would be close to the average
1d) which experiment are you referring to

2nd, WTF is a shoot?

1a-osmosis or capillary, unsure which term you've used in class, but both are technically correct.

1b-wouldn't 1b be the average all all the readings?  like a+b+c+d+e=24.2.  5 readings so 24.2/5=4.84 is the mean (avg) distance.

1c-I don't know if air movement across the leafy bits would increase water uptake in just 10 minutes.  since the evaporation of water in the leaves aids in water uptake, it could possibly cause a slight increase over average readings in still air.

1d-Assuming evaporation at the leaves increases uptake in 1c, it is possible that closing off the system might decrease water uptake.

I haven't done any work like this since I was a young kid, so I honestly don't know a sure answer on c and d.  Still, in 10 minutes, I wouldn't expect a signigicant change.

A) Osmosis - through the xylem capillaries
B) Use a calculator godammit!
    (4.5+ 5.2+ 4.8+ 4.7+ 5.0)/5 = MEAN

C) The average would be higher as the fan increases the movement of the bubble down the thingy - I am not sure about this one.
D) Guessing it would decrease as there would be no way the plant can uptake water - But again, not sure about this one.

Use google - it is a god with homework.

1a) Walk them through photosytheis, and how water is needed to convert light to energy, and how the roots bring the water to the leaves (look up xylem).  There's probably a geek science term, but I haven't thought about biology for a while.  Also, make sure to spell photosythies correct. LOL

1d) nothing would happen for a long time...until the plant used all the CO2 in the bag...

If I'm understanding the question right, I would say that the water would rise inside the chute because the surface pressure of the water would increase, therefore pushing it up the tube further. Reminds me of last night with zimmer's mom j/k

This guy is in Bio? Then you don't want to know what kind of questions I get in Chem2 :p

Just hope your teacher doesn't have an account on this site lmao!

Most of these questions are common sense anyway...how old are you?

I know all these answers but I wont tell you because you already know them. Now bye, I have Chem2 homework to do...fractional crystallization of Si2PO4 using a standard Bunter Funnel and simple running water to create the vacume in the flasks.

15 and no they are not common sense
