Compared to the beta and in comparison to the feedback that people gave; DICE just ignored most of the people who made suggestions about game-play. And the "damn thing" is out in a theoretical sense. The demo is supposed to represent the final shipping game.
Well i don't know about that. In the beta forums these where what some conversations where like:
[BF2142player1]: I like the idea of scope sway but its too much in the beta, and the stabilizer doesn't help much
[BF2142player4]: Seconded
[DoctaStrangelove]: Yeah its a bit too much
[Collin (a DICE employee)]: Okay we will reduce sway and increase stabilizer time
[BF2142player2]: The body armor gives to much protection
[BF2142player3] Yeah it takes whole clips to drop people some times.
[Lex (another DICE employee)]: We well decrease the damage absorption on it okay?
[DoctaStrangelove] Guys the Tiger Tank kills itself from simply driving around. Could you guys do something about this?

[DoctaStrangelove]: I noticed this too. While it definatly should oerheat rather fast for balance the cool off time is way to long.
[Lex]: Alright we'll change it, the overheat time will get a minor change while the cool-off time will get a larger one.

[DoctaStrangelove]: Yeah the pods when not near the Titan are more of an unsubtle way of hoping out then a pod. But I also think that they shouldn't be as high as they are when they're near the Titan. They should be high enough that snipers could use them to get to high spots.
[BF2142player3]:Yeah it was fun in beta1 to hop across the map but it also made defending silos way to hard
[BF2142player5]: I think it should be a little less than half of the near titan

All of the major gameplay changes where because the tester said that was the way they wanted it. Most people agreed on how it should be and DICE listened to them. You may have disagreed but the majority wanted the game a little different than it was. And if I could use my beloved Ganz again I would prefer the demo to the beta.
