Try the following steps untill one of them works:
1) Try to look at your hardware devices. Does it show up ? If so delete it, and reboot your PC
2) When booting, does your drive show up in the POST ? If not, go to the BIOS and try to see if you can find it. Reboot after fiddling with BIOS setting if it shows up.
3) Shutdown PC, remove powercord, gournd yourself, then, remove your case cover. Check if all cables to the burner are securely attached. If not, attache them securely. Reattach power, and reboot to see if the drive shows up
4) If fiddling with the current cables did not work, try an alternate cable and/or an alternate port (secondary master instead of primary etc.)
5) Try out the burner in another PC. If it STILL doesn't work, go buy a new one or if you have a warranty on the old one, use it to exchange the broken burner.
