Think about this:

Who would you fight harder for?

1. Your buddy

2. The person you love

I think having gay people in the military is alright, as long as they don't cause disruptions.

Having gay people in the military would be Okay.  But I would only use them for purposes of interrogation.  What prisoner of war wouldn't chat like a little bitch if he had some big queer getting ready to butt sex him with a meat bayonet.

Yeah, maybe greek armies had the don't ask don't tell policy.  And for that matter, I'm sure roman armies didn't have gays either...  lol

Ok, in addition to calling you old fashioned, can i call you a fucking idiot who obviously doesnt undertand the constiution that he defends? Kinda sad that 9 years in the ARMY has taught you nothin...wtf are u the latirine tech?

If they found a "cure" to homosexuality, do you think the gay people would choose to use it? I dont think so.

I like the reference he uses for gays...  "..the thought of sleeping in a tent with 'one' just turns my stomach."  I can just imagine him talking about gays as if they're some kinda sub-race.  Sure they're religiously corrupt, anti-family fudge packers, but they have the right to serve their country.  In fact, I think the whole military system needs an upgrade.  They should start with teaching men and women to have a little people skill while still being as lethal and deadly as possible.  Give them basic civil rights while encouraging them towards dedication, cohesion, and patriotism.   I like what other countries do in having compulsory service for 2 years when they're 18 or so.  This trains your whole country, and it does nothing to reduce quality of service men and women as they can obviously stay in longer as our current volunteer military does.  Serving gives everyone the right to "know" things that most military vets think they corner the market on, and it will create more patriotism.

But who am i kidding! lol

Nope . My father is heterosexual , same as me . Personally I never saw any , and don't want to .
Btw , gays are NOT wide spread on the territory of former USSR ( being a gay in the times of USSR meaned that you will be keeped in special hospital - nice idea , really apreciate this ) . You may say I'm sick of homophobia , maybe , but I don't want to see gays at all , espessially in army .

p/s I'm sick of all this 'fighters for the gay rights' threads ...

I can't find my book on sparta right now but it's mentioned there. It's mentioned as debatable whether it was chaste or not, but IMO I think some people can't handle a feared military being totally gay.

If you were macho enough you would not have problems with these things.
I don't care if gay people join my country's army.  What is the worst that could happen?  Probably nothing, if you aren't gay.
There's a proverb that says being gay you get your arse broken once a week, and being married you get your balls busted everyday.
Unfortunately, I got my balls busted everyday.

I don't think the US Army is in any position right now to turn away people that want to fight for our country.

No, plain and simple.  I for one would not like to go into a battle and have some guy gay by my side.

But if he were a good soldier, I guess I wouldn't really care.
omg that sums this up so well.... so funny.
whats there to argue about anyway, if i knew a gay was going to keep me alive longer than i would be if he wasnt there, then damn straight they can be in the army.

What I don't understand is how some people can fetishize the IDF and go on and on about it's combat effectiveness and then say that openly gay soldiers degrade the combat effectiveness of the military, forgetting that the IDF allows openly gay men and women to serve (indeed requires them to serve based on Israel's universal service requirement).

I don't think your sexuality makes you less able to use a gun or understand tactics so....I could care more or less if someone in the army is gay or not. The important thing is if they can do their job and if they are willing to defend their country not what turns them on...

Wow, there is nothing wrong with gay people. IF A GUY LIKES COCK, HOW DOES IT AFFECT YOUR LIFE? HOLY FUCK! DEAL WITH IT. They shouldn't have fewer rights and they should be allowed to marry. Don't give me that "old fashion" marriage shit, this isn't the 1920's.

Gay's should be allowed to do anything, including joining the Armed Forces.

No, I'm not gay, for the typical smart ass who was going to post this.

I didn't see anything in the wikipedia about the spartans being homosexuals.  Although I don't doubt that there were as many back then as today, the issue probably was just as large.  Homo and bisexuality is well documented in the mid and later years of both Greek and Roman times.  Not really sure about the early years of either.

As a U.S. Marine myself I do not like the idea of having gay men in the military.  I won't do anything to stop them from having a same sex marriage, adopting a child, or any of that.  But when it comes to military duty I have to draw the line.  I'm not being sexist or a bigot but mearly thinking of unit morale and efficiency.

The U.S. as a whole does not think of homosexuality an acceptable thing.  (I'll never see how it is able to happen myself, but that is none of my business on what/who they like.)  That is the first and largest barrier to break.  If a platoon finds out that there is a gay member in there then it is more likely to have a lower efficiency and morale due to the feelings of the straight men in the unit towards the gay individual.

Second this is just like having a relationship in the regular workplace.  Two men in a unit develop a relationship and that creates friction among the other men of the unit.  Then when the relationship breaks down you have two men who could possibly hate each other having to work together and not able to transfer away from each other.  This is espically harmful in an infantry unit where it could become a serious case of blue on blue fire.

Take it at face value.  I doubt that this will impact your opinons either way.  The IDF is a very good force but they stress that everyone is equal over there and get away with making EVERYONE serve their time, something that will never happen in the United States.  The day that every last United States Citizen has to serve in the military for a stint is the day that homosexuality will be openly allowed in the military.

get the gays and lezzo's in. The more the merrier.

on a side note:
Doesn't a lot of homophobia start from repressed homosexual feelings?
