For all of you like me who find visuals much easier to process, I've comparatively graphed the rank progressions in both BF2 and BF2142. These are repeated from another thread but to avoid getting off-topic and helping people find them who might consider them useful I created a new topic for them.
The rank # is a linear progression where each successive rank gets a number. It's intended to give a uniform reference with which to display the curve of the rank progression and really has no other value. The primary graph:
And because it can be tough to see on the previous graph, due to the scale, here's the rank progression in the first 10,000 points set out for you:
