Hi all,

The last few times I've looked for info in this forum, All I find is threads where someone asks the question I'm asking.
But instead of finding the answer, I find 30 replies of people saying to SEARCH.  Well, I did search.  Could we refer the asker to the correct thead instead of just flameing about searching?

This forum didn't used to be this way.  I'm sure the world is full of noobs.  Why don't we help inform these people.

Just a thought.

this has been discussed a lot ( among those who were here basically from the beginning and the mods ). Problem is, some register here just to ask one specific question which in 99% of the cases has already been discussed on the forums. But instead of trying to find the answer to that question by searching existing threads, people will simply open a new thread. this has been getting out of hand lately, especially during the downtime of the xml feed from EA and the implementation of the SF stats into this page.

in some cases, new threads were opened by the minute, each one asking the same question ( mostly "wtf..my stats won't update what's going on" ). kids just could not be bothered with taking the time to search, even when there were 5 threads with the same topic in the same subforum.
It is that kind of laziness that was bugging some of us.

Actually, it is still bugging me sometimes. Information is processed here very quickly, and chances are, if you take the time to use the search function and browse through the search results, you will find the answer to your question. Now, I know the forums are getting quite big, and it might well be that a search for a specific keyword will bring up 25 threads. But that doesn't mean you should take the easy way out and open a new thread without even looking through the search results.

As a mod, I don't mind helping people around here. it is part of my job. but I am not your mom ( you not being you personally, rather in a more general sense of the word ). Please do not expect me to dig up information from the forums which you could have easily gotten yourself.

I am sure the world is full of noobs. but I am not going to support their noobism by constantly helping them out when they should be able to gather information themselves.

now, I am not saying I won't help you. If your search didn't bring up any results, I'll be glad to assist you to the best of my ability. But when you are asking a question which has clearly been answered a gazillion times and it is obvious you didn't even bother to use the search function, please don't expect me to do your work for you.

just my personal opinion of course.
