BF2S Forums is there any way to lower your ping in game?

AFAIK, theres no such stuff but theres a command for compensation

I've seen that, all the reveiws on newegg say it's purty good but damn it is tooo expensive.

You can't get your ping down, but you can make the latency compensation more accurate towards your normal ping.
Go into the console (press `)
and type

SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.xxx

replace xxx with your average ping on that server ie;

Ping of 50
SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.050

Ping of 150
SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.150

Ping of 35
SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.035


You can set it up so it always uses a certain value in the config files, but it's better to set it each time you join a server after about 2 minutes of play.

Just another note,

I can't remember exactly what it says after you press enter, but if you type it all in right and it has taken effect you'll get something like                value: 1

if you balls it up slightly you get     value: 0

What is the reported ping like on servers before you join?
In the server browser are you sorting the list by ping and then joining only from the top 5/10?
What kind of pings are you then getting in-game?
Are they consistently high or are you getting spikes where it jumps to 200+?

Do this at different times of the evening, see if there are periods when the service is worse than others. You may be having a problem with contention ratio and if so there's no solution other than to change service provider; cable should generally be be fast enough but some people's service sucks, bigtime.

Find an Play on servers close to your location. From where I am, I can get about a 30-50 ping rate from Chicago.

1 - Opening ports on your router will only allow outside attackers to access your system. It allows outside connections in. Once your BF2 game connects to the server, all your data comes through a connection that is opened from your side of the router.
2 - Installing a faster Network adapter will not help. The fastest internet in my area is 16 Mbps (Mega-Bits) which is 2 Mega-Bytes per second. Your netword adapters is probably a 100Mbps (12.5 Mega-Bytes per second).

What effects ping rates is how many connections there are between you and the servers. The lower number of hops (servers, routers) your connection goes through the lower your ping rate will be.

Do this in a command prompt:

tracert <SERVERIP>

Replace the <SERVERIP> with the IP Address of the server.

If you have more than 10 hops, that is your problem. Find another server since there is nothing you can do.
