This does not make any sense. Wiki seems to be incorrect. Flight numbers are way different the registration (tail) numbers of airplanes. Flight numbers are for city pairs and times, and are not airplane specific.

Q33 NY = fail. First of all it has a space which in itself makes it complete bull. Second, find me an airline with the code "NY".

That is a registration number, NOT A FLIGHT NUMBER. /win

I am not agreeing with the theory, just the incorrectness of the reasoning disproving it. I know it is not a real flight number, but it has nothing to do with the tail number.

N - the aircraft was registered and operated in America
334 - individual aircraft code
AA - belings to American Airlines

This aircraft, the one that smashed into the North Tower was an American Airlines Boeing 767-233. It's flight number was AA11, or American Airline Flight 11.
