So... I decided I wanted and MP3 player. My budget was limited (I decided the MOST I could spend was $100, and that would still be a little too much). I work hard for my money, and unfortunately most of it is already promised to my debtors :-( So... I thought about it for two months, did some serious searching... Wal Mart's cheapest MP3 player was ~$50 bucks. 512 MB of space, hardly any GUI. With tax it would be ~$60.
I went on eBay and found something that seemed waaaay too good to be true. It looked like an iPod, had some better features (FM radio... did play videos...)... but it was def not from Apple. It was a Chinese knockoff. For $68 (this is including shipping) they were offering 2GB of space on something that pretty much WAS an iPod nano. After a week of thinking "this is too good to be true" I plunked down the cash.
Guess what? It has made me so happy. It was def, def worth it. It works PERFECTLY. The GUI took me about 30 mins to figure out, but it wasn't that difficult. I keep thinking, man I was going to have to settle for a crappy 512 mb stick with no GUI. This thing plays videos... has a radio.
Now, after loading my cd collection onto it (and still being at about 60% capacity) I've been looking on the internet to figure out whats the deal behind this thing. I've learned that its a "cheap" Chinese knockoff, that I am a horrible person for buying it, and I should be ashamed of myself.
What a buncha crap! These idiots are saying to feel good about myself I should spend at 3x - 4x as much for the same thing that delivers less (the iPod doesn't have a radio!) all so I can feel special that I own a brand name product. We all can't have mommy and daddy buying the expensive stuff for us... I am very nearly broke (I think my net worth hovers around zero). This thing works great. Worked perfectly with Win Media player, took only about an hour total to get most of my music on it. Thats including rip time from CDs.
I HIGHLY recommend the nano copies... Go on eBay and find the black one, thats the one I got. Sure, it doesn't have U2 advertising for it. So what. When you buy an iPod you are paying for Bono to sell it to you. Rediculous. Many of the forums I went to claim that the copies have high defective rates... but the seller I bought it from eBay has a 10000 +rating with 98.2 percent positive feedback. For the negative feedback, the few that didn't work got their money back.
This thing has made my life better so far, even more so because of its extremely low price tag. Don't listen to the snobs.
