Now, thanks to the new BBcode implementation of Youtube and Google video,
I thought it would be nice with a topic dedicated to the beautiful part of football
and all the talented players out there. My favourites must be Ryan Giggs, Zidane, Christiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Henry, Robinho, Okocha, Reyes and Ben Arfa. Probably some that I forgot to mention.
Now let me try to start it off with this video clip:

Agreed. Feel free to post other soccer vids here. Also to discuss favourite players.
Have you noticed that Christiano Ronaldo is the most featured player in these videos? Even more than Ronaldinho. He is amazingly skilled. I wish more players were like him because it's not always the goals that is the best part of the game.

Nice Giggs' goal is a classic and so is Seedorf's midfield shot. And Bergkamp's goal against Newcastle was pure magic. He was an exellent player. My favourite though, is the Roberto Carlos freekick. It's the best freekick I've ever seen, sensitivity and brutal power makes a fine duo.

Sure I've seen Maradona. I just think he is overrated. He was talented but I don't think he could measure up with many of todays players.

Actually it's funny that you should say so because Maradona visited my City (Bergen, Norway) last weekend and played showoff football on a pitch that is 500m away from my school which is in the same small part of the City that I live in. But I didn't go there to see him play. Too expensive for me. His Argentinian team kicked the Norwegian team's asses in the match.

Hahah so you're a Man U fan, nice to know. The first video brings back memories. Used to be a fan myself.
I remember leaving the room right before Sheringham scored because I was so frustrated with my team losing the CL final. But then one of the greatest moments of football happened. Fantastic.

And I'm proud to say that a Norwegian scored the winning goal

I'm a River fan and Maradona is from Boca, so my opinion here is very unsided.  He is the most extraordinary player of the history without any question.  He could kick the ass to any player today.  I saw him when he was still playing and I can tell you nobody will ever play like he did.
Ask Zidane what he thinks.  Ask Platini, he said about Zidane (both French explayers): What Zidane does with a ball , Maradona did with an orange.

Rooney is just a scorer and is 19 years old?  Maradona now is 46, but when he was 25 he won a World Cup by himself, and he scored the most beautiful goal of the Worlc Cup History, you may remember that or at least you probably saw in videos, Argentina 2-1 England (1986).  When Rooney scores a goal like the one of Mexico 86 then we'll talk.

As for the Christiano Ronaldo discussion; despite the fact that I wanted to have his head removed after the end of the world cup I still thank god he still plays in for Man Utd (for now atleast), he is by far the most skilled player in terms of tricks (and he is a great player as well) in the whole of the premiership and possibly any league.

Wow I could hardly disagree more. Sure Italy can win the Word Cup but they don't have a good team in my opinion. Buffon, Cannavaro and Camoranesi are the only players I may like, but they haven't got any "joga bonito" players

Did anyone tell Christiano Ronaldo that football is a team sport?

Yes. The same person told him that football is an audience sport. I don't know about you but I like to watch football because it is entertaning. The entertaning part is pretty much thanks to skilled players like Christiano Ronaldo.

Okay, find me a 20 year old that could do this:

and this

I think at 20 years old, he is a phenominal player. There are some players who've played all their life and are still nowhere near as good as rooney. I think he'll become better than diego hasbeen maradonna.

If you're a united fan, remember those two goals against middlesborough where he lobbed the keeper from about 40 yeards? I still think its the best goal he's scored and I saw it live too, I was right behind the united goal

He'll be a good player when he plays with any team mates.  Football isn't only one player playing nice, it's a team playing as a team.
