Ok. so a good friend of mine, who is a member of this site, not immortaltechnique, was at a party tonite. the cops came and broke it up and he was standing on a street corner with a few other people, away from the crowd of many. anyways, the police drive by and spray something. at first they didnt know what it was, but soon they were all coughing and they could not see.

the police had just peppersprayed them for no reason.

they were not doing anything wrong (unless you count standing on a street corner minding your own business as a crime). the police also gave them no warning whatsoever.

anyways, my friend and i called the police and complained. we spoke to three different officers who all gave us the same shit. first, they claimed that they only sprayed the crowd(which totaled over 500 people). they claimed that the toronto police service decided to stop warning people because there might be people in the crowd who didnt speak english.

let me tell you, this is the stupidest shit ever.

the neighbourhood in which this happened is one of the WASPiest neighbourhoods in all of toronto. clearly at least 99% of people speak english there.

so my question is, do you think this spraying was warranted?

Yes ... People don't pay to live in good neighborhoods to have people hanging around.

I recall when i was young .. watergun wars escalted into using pepper spray ... it way good motivation not to get tagged.

it was w/o any warning. there is no justification for spraying some people walking in the opposite direction of the crowd.
