L96A1 Unlock quickly?

n00b question here.
I just started playing BF2 over the last week & I'm enojying it.

I love the sniper kit & had a question about the BF2:SF sniper rifle.

At Lance Corporal I get an unlock which I would take the M95 & again at Corporal I get another unlock. If I had SF would I then be able to get the L96A1 or is there something else that needs to be done?

If you had SF you would...but there is an option to turn global unlocks off ...so on some maps even though you have unlocked it you still might not be able to use it!!

YOU NEED SF to get the L96, you can use as the basic EU sniper weapon in EF, but if you want it as an unlock you must have special forces.

No
The L96A1 was part of 1.22
It is a Primary weapon in EuroForces
SF is NOT needed for the L96A1 -EDIT: Strikethrough added - This is not true
You CANNOT unlock the L96A1 before the M95
However
If you have SF, you get TWO unlocks at each rank instead of one, so you could unlock 2 weapons (i.e. M95 AND L96A1) with one Rank Up.
These extra unlocks are bacwards compatible, so if you install and play SF after you've unlocked 4 weapons, you'll get another 4 unlocks when you finish your first round of SF.

You can't USE it in SF but you need SF to be able to use it in Vanilla as an unlock

And for those that are still confused as to why you can't choice TIER 3 weapons in SF, that is because many of the TIER 3 unlocks are standard weapons for the armies in SF. For example : the SAS use the F2000, MG36, MP7 etc. etc.

The P90 and L96A1 however are standard weapons for the European army, thus not included in SF. To play these weapons as STANDARD - I repeat - STANDARD you need EF. To play these weapons as TIER 3 UNLOCK you need to have them unlocked and you can choose from them in regular BF2.
