did anyone of you all here about that dude that sold his car and got a horse and buggy lol. wtf come on cars are a main source of transportaion. Do you really think people would walk 1 mile to a walmart no. There to lazy and will always have a car. the worst thing we'd have to do is switch to a more conserving technology which would be better for the air and such.

Those cars are 100% pollution free.
Why do all these low emissions cars look so gay.

Just make something normal, that doesn't pollute so much and is super cheap to run. Is that so hard?

Big whoop. Talking won't solve their horrendus pension problem or end their trust-like lack of competition with other American manufacturers.

Oh I know. I was just using that to highlight the terrible situation they have found themselves in.

I don't think Ford or GM will cease to exist entirely, but their market shares will plummet and the companies will have to shrink massively. Hope no one here works for Ford or GM - because there's not going to be a lot of job security with them.

Well Bill Gates wealth exceeds the annual budget of Russia. so you might want to pick a better company to pick on. He could pay the salary of President George W. Bush (US$400,000) for 132,000 years lol.

This is in the thousands of millions so 51,000 Million equals 51 Billion.

This list is only Americans.. I think the Ikea guy surpasses them all.
I have to list more fun facts about that poor Microsoft founder devastated by Google.

Examine Bill Gates' wealth compared to yours:

Consider the average American of reasonable but modest wealth. Perhaps he
has a net worth of $100,000.  Mr. Gates' worth is 400,000 times larger.
Which means that if something costs $100,000 to him, to Bill it's as though
it costs 25 cents. You can work out the right multiplier for your own net
worth.

So for example, you might think a new Lamborghini Diablo would cost
$250,000, but in Bill Gates dollars that's 63 cents. That fully loaded,
multimedia active matrix 233 MHZ laptop with the 1024x768 screen you've been
drooling after? A penny. A nice home in a rich town Palo Alto, California?
Two dollars. That nice mansion he's building? A reasonable $125 to him.
You might spend $100 on tickets, food and parking to take your family to
see an NHL hockey game.  Bill, on the other hand, could buy the team for
100 Bill-bills.  You might buy a plane ticket on a Boeing 747 for $1200 at
full-fare coach. In Bill-bills, Mr.. Gates could buy three

It's disgusting how some people can make so much money.  He could save the lives of probably 50,000 starving Africans, and still have millions left.  NO ONE in history of the human race has ever needed more than 100 million to live happily.

He does. Bill Gates is the largest charity contributor ever. I have a lot of respect for him for it. He also got Warren Buffet to contribute a lot.

the main thing I like about it is he doesn't jump out and make huge public events on the scale of Oprah, Susan Sarandon, Jolie, and all those other self glorifying prima-donnas in the public eye, the fact that you don't know he donates the equivalent GDP of some third world countries speaks volumes, maybe he is a hardcore businessman and entrepreneur, but that doesn't necessarily make him evil. of course his donations don't necessarily make him good, I don't know the guy so I can't say, just saying he's not as bad as you think

you really think bill gates gives a hoot bout taxes.he pays more in taxes in one day then any one here will earn in a lifetime.on topic American car companies will survive if only as one company offering a hundred different models.gm and Nissan are teaming up to compete with Toyota(which has become the largest automobile manufacturer in the world). The automobile is not defined as a carriage and INTERNAL combustion engine.it is two words auto mobile. it is a machine that can be mobile w/o power of a LIVING organism ie electric/hydrogen/fuel cell are all considered automobiles. and for the anti-Americans out the f_ck off.you would be living in the thousand year Reich if America didn't join in.Hitler ran all over Europe unstopped.thank god china changed your fate!!Hitlers only fear of losing was AMERICA.......

I know Toyota don't employ union staff. I don't know about all Japanese manufacturers. There production costs are certainly lower and they can sell to wider markets. No wonder they're making big profits.

Chinese manufacturers make even bigger profits on their cars, they just got a contract to produce all the London black cabs, just an example of how production is getting outsourced to China.

I guess I might be part of the cause for the peril the US car industry faces, as I'm a pretty big Honda person, and most likely will be getting a Civic as my next car (more specifically, hopefully the Si Sedan)...

Vehicles that are cheaper to fuel (without a bunch of extra maintenance costs) without sacrificing cargo space would be immensely popular.

My friend just got a black si, and we've had an older model civic for a while, great cars.
