I found this motherboard on Overclockers and was thinking about buying it. - http://www.asrock.com/product/939Dual-SATA2.htm

I already have in my PC.

Amd 2700+Barton  CPU

ASUS A7N8X motherboard

2gb ddr 400 ram

120gb harddrive

6800gt graphic card 512mb which is AGP.

So I am thinking that for a quick and cheapish upgrade, really only the Motherboard and CPU need changing.

I am also thing of buying a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+ (Socket 939) CPU

I have been having real trouble finding a 939 AGP motherboard, but I cant afford to upgrade everything like the Graphics card and Memory as well.

But my question is on the above Motherboad, how does it upgrade to a AM2 one? because this would be useful for future up grades.

Please help.

Works fine ....using one right now.....got it because I was given an Opty 146 but still had an AGP card...have since U/G to a PCI E card no probs what so ever ...oh and the Opty is clocked at 2.7 on Air!!

You need an adaptor to use an AM2 but the socket is there to plug the adaptor into

It's a decent board. I'm currently building a pc using that board and I've used a pc with it.  Works great.
Why such a powerful processor you won't get the benefit unless you do alot of video editing, or similar. I'm using a 3800+ x2, even this is alot of power. Just a thought!!!!!

AsRock Dual SATA in my system.

+ Great value
+ Great upgrading possibilities
+ So you have an AGP card.. don't worry! Change it later to a Pci-e!
+ AM2? Don't worry about it! Upgrades available at an AsRock dealer near you!

..well, I like it.. Been using it for 6 months now, and have.. well just 1 complaint.

- My mouse is always on (optical, the red light is kinda a giveaway that it's on), although the power is off. There's nothing in the BIOS to change this.

well, that was a small complaint, now wasn't it?

Currently:

AsRock DUAL SATA 939
1Gb RAM (2x512)
EAX550 256 (bottleneck, modded)
Athlon 64 3200+
Nexus 400W
etc.

Isn't the AMD 4600+ dual core socket AM2 not SKT939, mine is AM2.

With a name like ASSROCK, it's gotta be good.

You can get both 939 and am2

I would get the AM2 just for future compatibility if you plan to go with AMD.
But the Core 2 Extreme is so much more worth it but clearly out of everyone's budget.
