Let me understand this ribbon again:

IAR: 1 Driver Special Ability Point - you get this by being the driver and having a passenger with a medic, ammo or engineer pack whole helps out the team while in the vehicle.
IAR: 20 Driver Kill Assists - you're the passenger and the driver gets 20 kills
IAR: 10 kills - you kill 10 while the driver.

Is this right?

any suggestions on how to get this easily? I'm having problems getting the special ability.

In fact the requirements (of course all in one round) are:

10 kills

- kills by your own, any type, also outside vehicles

20 kill assists while within a vehicle

- your position in the vehicle doesn't matter, type of kill doesn't matter (but you don't get kill assists for arty kills when the commander is on board!), includes standard kill assists (victim "finished" by someone outside the vehicle)

- perhaps one or more kill assists may be replaced by driver special ability points (which are harder to get)

Driver special ability points are quite easy in a helo. What you need to do is be a medic and fly - when you get shot at, you and the gunner take damage and, because you're a medic, you auto-heal both yourself and him. So...

Be medic, fly.
Shoot stuff and line your gunner up for stuff.
Get shot at
Rinse
Repeat.

You won't get a driver assist point for that, but a team point for healing. It's just the other way round, your passenger has to be the medic and when he receives a point for healing you, you'll get the assist point.

Riiiight.... I wonder, wether the guys suggesting Karkand or Sharqi know what they are talking about... this is about the Crew Specialist Ribbon.... Special Forces... you do remember that there was some kind of expansion being called by that name?

And now try to show me, how you get a Special Forces Ribbon on maps contained in vanilla BF2.... That would be a neat trick

Well reading a whole text seems to be very hard!
I got mine on Mass Destruction as Rebel. Spawn as a medic at Chemical Plant (or what the spawn point is called exactly?) run for the Hind and be the gunner. When you are lucky a good pilot hops in and then kill everything that moves! That's the way I got mine!

Think I got mine on Iron gator as USMC in the apache. Saw my gunner was support, so threw a grenade of the side of the carrier, jumped in, he got an ammo giving point, I got the driver special ability score. Then proceeded to fly around leting him get TV kills and then useing the rockets when he missed or on boats, infantry on deck. racked up the ribbon gold medal, he got second and we won the round by well over 100 tickets.

The hardest thing ot get is the driver special ability, and theres no way to insure you get it as your co-pilot/driver must be a medic/support/engineer (or kill a commander assest (undure if this works) while in your vehicle, usually with 3 tv missiles).

The way i got the ribbon was that I was playing wake island and I was in the heli as pilot. I got all the kill assists from my gunner (because I aim for my pilot like some of you should) so I got the kill assists down I was medic and my gunner was engi so i heal him and my arty was down so I hover above it and got the special ability. I got the kills by owning other helis too so I got it pretty well. That worked for me hope it helps

Im such a helicopter whore. I just love to kill people and rack up points from my gunners kills and me diving in for tank or just following the enemy heli until he notices us and BOOM tv right into cockpit w00t. I just love it.

For SF ribbon I did basically the same thing with the gunner as engi. That was sweet just repair the UAV and rack up points from viewing deck and flight deck and some heli kills.
