About the iraelis and the argentinian bombings and terrorism:
1) Terrorism has been around a LOT longer than the state of Israel, dont blame them for everything.
2) Most well funded groups are NOT responding to Israel, but the the US "occupation" (their words, not mine) of "the holy land"... How the fuck Saudi arabia got to be holy, and why they think it's an occupation I have no idea... But the bombings of the marine barracks (first major strike against the US by the precursor to various terror networks, including a couple you know today) was a response to the posting of foreign troops in the middle east. Then again, terrorism doesn't really need a good explanation to do what it does anyway.. so who cares.
3) As for the spending, I made my point earlier in the thread. I'll just REMIND people that the money the war is costing, has been FINANCED... It's NOT being payed by the taxes directly anyway. the US is just taking out new loans and grants from it's friends and allies, and using that money to pay the troops and the arms manufacturers. In my country we provide FREE logistics and free and unlimited access to large industrial harbors in the area, I'm proud of that effort... Shit, I doubt with the cost of a bullet or a toilet seat that the US could afford to send even a single platoon into combat if they had to pay cash !
So in conclusion, the war is dirt cheap for the US (cash wise). And I'm DARNED sure the average american would rather see the war cost another 20 billion $, than another 20.000 american lives. Fortunately we have the option of replacing a lot of the manpwer with "cash" though better weapons, better training, better support and faster deployments, and shorter responsetimes. So even if the money spent was to be payed over the taxes directly, then I'd sure as hell pay rather than loose my son, brother, father, uncle, neighbor, friend or classmate in a shitty war thousands of miles away....
And dont say "pull the troops home".... That's just nonsense... That would put the country into chaos, and the ensuing chaos would be even MORE dangerous and expensive than the current presense. Agreed, it sucks that the locals are unable to do more than they do now.... But even the REALLY old people barely remember the name of the last president before Saddam. I dare YOU to name him, if have that name in memory (yours, not your computers), then I MIGHT do you the favor of hearing your side of the story, but I'm 99.99% certain NOONE on this forum remembers.
Any politicain emerging in Iraq has been brutally KILLED over the last many years.. Noone knows how to run a country.. ofcourse it's hard work !
