I have 3 gb of PC3200 DDR2 ram. I'm usually the 1st person on the map. I can have the Hotel in Karkand capped before anyone else spawns in. Takes about 25 to load a map and get playing.

lol 3 GBs of PC3200 ram... that's a lot...
I only have a 2x channel 1 GB of PC3200 and an OC'ed 2.8 Ghz to 3.4 GHz P4.
It takes like 1-2 mins for me to verify, really sucks bad.

concerning this verifying data thingy, i found this on an earlier thread, i too was getting load times of around 3-4 minutes with verification up to 4-5 minutes,
my system is
2.6 p4
1.5gb ram
128 mb ati radeon 9200
onboard sound card
120gb hard drive
first thing i did was the following
"Go to the folder C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2
Create a folder named "Common" and unzip the file Common_client into it. Do NOT delete the Common_client zip file, your game will NOT work if you do.
There should be a folder named "Objects." Unzip the file Objects_client into it. Again, do NOT delete the Objects_client zip file, your game will NOT work if you do.
and then
disable VOIP in sound options
these two things alone reduced both load time and verification time
BUT then i put my sound down too the low setting and my load time and verification time was cut down to about
1minute load time
10 sec verification time
i know it doesn't sound good reducing the sound quality, but maybe thats where the problem is? i'm gonna invest in a new sound card..
let me know if this works for anyone else!!!

About a minute to verify, 3 minutes to load (first time).
Oh and BTW, having more than 2 GB of RAM won't help performance one bit in this game, since it only uses 1.3GB on high textures.

I have two machines and want to run them at the same time so my son and I can play together. I have BF2 and BF2 SF. I can get both machines online and playing at the same time, however, it will not play on the same server. Is this a CD key issue? and if so, is there a way around it?
Ok look, i've read this whole thing and i'd like to point something I dont think anyone covered. I dont know how many of you have played single player but, like the dude who commented that his fake version had ZERO VERIFYING CLIENT DATA TIME, my computer does TOO ONLY WHEN IM PLAYING SINGLE PLAYER ON AN OFFLINE ACCOUNT, when entering an ONLINE ACCOUNT VERIFYING CLIENT DATA TAKES FOREVER. So this leads me to believe that the process has nothing to do with Hardware specs of an individual computer.
