I've never been "good" at this game. Infact, I would probably say that I am only "ok" and as of late I am challenging the levels of "noob sucking"

So, I'm not lookin for sympathy. What I am looking for is an explanation... or if this has happened to you. Maybe you could explain this to me.

When i first started playing this game...i played at a newbie level. I slowly started to get more and more points per round and I have worked myself up to about 40 points a round. That was good for me, and I was satisfied with it. As of about the last week worth of playing, I am scoring about 10-14 points a game. I feel as though I am making tons of stupid mistakes that I didn't even make when I first started playing.

It was actually around the time of the 1.4 patch when I started to "suck", but I'm not going to blame the patch.

So has this happened to you? Words of encouragement? I know I gotta quit sucking, so thanks in advance for the flames! Help me find my inner chi.

Use the AK. Spawn rape the hotel. Jet whore the J-10. Medic whore on karkand. Bunny hop. Claymore spam.

That should get your KD up

Quit sweating it; you're only making it worse.

Seriously, if you take the game (or anything else in life) too seriously, and try too hard, you'll screw it up. Crack a few beers, breathe deep, and quit worrying about points. Just play for fun, and it will make all the difference.

My stats are awful, but I have a blast every time I play because I don't take it too seriously. Just my opinion.

I had the same problem after coming back from 2142, BF2 seemed a whole lot different. Just before I got into the beta I could shoot a M16 as well as I could an AK, now I'm only just getting this back, IO helps though.

Class = Medic

Gun = AK101

Team = MEC

Spawn Place = Hotel

Moves = Bunny Hop

Find friends to play with. Keep it fun, and use a VoIP program, or the in-game one. I've always been an unlock gun guy, but lately I've found new life in the game using the standard guns. Example: L96 is boring now, so I use the Type 88(?), the stock Chinese sniper. Also, I've always been a huge S-12k fan (MEC engi) and I don't know why. It's just fun.  Try new stuff, maybe different vehicles or something. If you haven't already, learn to fly choppers. I'd say my daily playtime has gone up significantly since I figured choppers out. Maybe just take a round or two every now and then and get some buggy road kills on Oman or something. Just don't worry about points and have fun, and your scores will come back up.

For one thing, yes, I think the advice of relaxing and not taking it too seriously would be good advice.

Also for games like this and, notably CS, I consider them "situational" games. You have to give thought and consideration to the situations you are placing yourself in, i.e. if I rush toward that flag to try and take it, is the guy laying behind the sandbags going to pop up and kill me? Will his buddies on the other side of that building take me out? Or when you hop in that shiny new tank and begin driving it around, think "is this narrow street a good place to be driving? Is this riskier than some other route?"

You've always got to consider how to put yourself at an advantage in every situation you're in. Jumping down in front of the already-prone guy hoping for a headshot is NOT a good situation to put yourself in. Running in front of a tank hoping he won't hit you or hoping you'll make it to C4 range [potentially] is not an advantageous situation, nor is standing around firing hoping to get a kill when you could be taking cover. Are their guys holed up at a command point and shooting up the alleyway you're trying to advance down? A sniper covering a street? Try going around and flanking them or hitting them from the rear.

And let me be clear, if you find yourself in a bad situation then don't try and push your position but back out of there. Find another route, get some help, or find a way to change your position so that it becomes advantageous to you. Dying achieves you nothing but a tactical retreat can keep you in the game. It doesn't make you a coward in this kind of case, it makes you the smart one for not giving up a kill and helping your team.

So in a nutshell, always look at the situation and consider how to put yourself in the advantageous position. If there is no advantageous position, then you ought to retreat and go find another fight.

Switching kits constantly helps me keep a high score, often times 50 + points playing as infantry on Wake Island, Jalalabad, etc.  Use each kit in the right situation and you'll really increase the amount of points you earn

Dude, go play IO Jalalabad for a few days... get used to the fast pace and learn the map. Play wit a friend in a squad and use xfire or something.
I did this over the whole weekend and I started to improve. Last night I went on a regular Ghost Town map w/ vehicles and was winning nearly every 1 on 1 fire fight! I swear I was like Rambo or something! I did have to deal with artillary and helo whores but IO has surly improved my regular gameplay.

If you find yourself getting owned on a particular server just disconnect and try another.

Sometimes I think it helps to play on servers where the other players are of similar ability to you. Trouble is there is no way to know until you dive in, but if you start getting mauled take the hint and try other servers until you find one that matches your style.

Learn to reconize when your playing on a team stacked clan server.  I can be impossible to switch to the winning side so its better just to find a new server.

I forgot this. Stay well rounded. That way you always have another 6 ways to play the game. If you look at my stats, I'm pretty balanced. Honestly, I'm working towards all 7 expert badges, and I don't want to have 6 down and have to play 70 hours of a particular kit. That said, the game is a lot more interesting when you can put faith in your skill with whatever kit the situation requires.

Hell, if you're in the US, hit me up on xfire sometime and I'll play a few rounds with you sometime. dstock9 <--xfire

i've found that there are easier kills on the weekends, as opposed to a tuesday afternoon.  also, look at the scores of the players already in the game.  you'll be able to spot a stacked team or a jet/chopper whore instantly.

Or.. take a break from the game. Play something else for a while. I've racked up quite a few hours of NFS:MW this week and play BF2 in between, when I'm sicking of shredding tyres.

I second that. Re-spawn as whatever is needed on the battlefield.

If you're being raped by armour - come back as A.T
UAV Truck destroyed - spawn as engineer and fix it
Big punch up at the train wreck on karkand - be a medic and start throwing packs around

I actually had something simmilar to you. I started to suck for about 2 months. My acc. went down and deaths went up and all that stuff. Then I just said "ahhh screw it" and played for fun like everyone says. SLAM! mucho pts and acc. slowly going up, and new best round. All happened in the last few days. I have 1.4 to thank.

Stats mean shit.  Lots of people like to use quantitative analysis to gauge your performance, those people are fucktards that think numbers dictate everything.  They don't look at qualitative performance.

Personally, I respect someone with 2 W/L and 0.5 KDR more than some fuckwit with a 0.5 W/L and 10 KDR.

Do what makes you feel superior, but in my mind, winning > anything.  As a bonus, winning and making others feel pissed > winning.

=====Play to win, don't play for stats.=====
