Ok i have had this rig for about 2 months.I built it myself. and i only get 40-50 fps. could anything be limiting me? I have no spyware/adware on it (just ran spy sweeper). Windows is a new install from about 3 weeks ago. Also I have all the current drivers and such.

i run everything on high 4xaa at 1280x1024.

Wow, that looks really solid.  Someone once posted that the human brain can only process something like 30-50 FPS so while you should not notice anything being amiss, I guess your benchmarking is what you're inquiring about.

I average between 40 and 70 FPS with a similar setup.  The only time I go over 70 is when nothing is really happening on screen.

Try running 3DMark and post your score, that will tell us more about how your system is benchmarking and eliminates any anomalies that may be related to BF2 itself.

are you getting enough power? whats your powersupply.. id want 500W +

other than that i dont know any info about your motherboard

but i have a 3700 and am not sure a 3800 can pull off everything high and 4xaa... I could.. but i would probably have around 40-50 fps  too

Start up your PC, don't do anything, hit Alt + Ctrl + Del, look at processes, or what ever its called (the second window) and see if your CPU ever spikes to 100%, normally you should have around 0-1 % when doing nothing, when it spikes to 100% or an other high value, then there a bottle neck in your PC, and that might be holding you back

take one of ur vid cards out, sometiems u can have problems with SLI causing mad slowdowns.  so take one out, if that doesnt work, make sure u have V-sync off, update ur drivers, etc.

And take the leftover one and give it to me!

Yes it spikes to 100 then down then to 100 then to 75. Is there/ could you explain a way to remove the bottleneck?

Watch to see which process is eating up cycles and causing the CPU spike. Then Google the process name, or post it here and see if it's legit, or spyware/virus. If it's legit it may be one of the many resource hog Windows processes that can safely be disabled.
