I don't know what's going on today, but I've CTD everytime I open up BF2 to play a game. It'll be fine for a good 4-5 respawns, but then outta nowhere, I'll CTD completelly. No error, no lag, nothing... just a clean CTD. One of the times, I got this Network Transfer Error or some crap like that, or maybe it was corruption... whatever it was, it gave the impression that the data that was being transfered was crap and got messed up.

I then went to download some patches for two games I got (Ghost Recon and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3). Each download was over 100MB, and invariably (I downloaded each like 3-4 times), the files would be corrupted once I tried to open them. I thought maybe it was the servers so I tried different servers as well but nothing changed. The problem doesn't appear when I download relatively small files though. After a while I made the connection that they might be related.

I'm guessing the CTD's are connected to whatever is going on with my internet connection, but I'm not sure what to do to go about fixing this. Anyone else experience something similar? I am probably gonna have to call up my service provider, maybe they keep dropping the connection or something, but any tips on stuff I might be able to do before that? Thanks.

P.S. I put this in 1.4 chatter because I updated to 1.4 a few days ago and had never had this problem before. Thought it might be 1.4 related.

just deal with it, or dont play. the game will never be fixed. and 2142 will probably be just about as buggy.

ive installed this game on 4 diffrent computers, 2 of which had brand new HD's and a robust install of windows. and it shows the same problems as with a system that has had windows for 3 years.

the game just plain is bug ridden. but once u reinstall clean usually it works 70% of the time

GotMex there were some very strange stuff going on the 10th.  The Net was loading slow for me at 3 locations, and a friend confirmed another location was.  I also was getting a lot of corrupt pages, pages that would not load, things like that.  See if it is like that in the near feature, but it seems more like a packet loss and an ISP/Network issue, not a BF2 issue.

Ok sweet, that's good to know. I've been having issues in general with the net so like you say, probably more packet loss and less BF2. It's always worked fine for me in terms of not crashing so this was just odd. Thanks.

I had problems yesterday, my ping kept jumping up to 900+, and servers that would normal be about 20-30 were at 150.  Anyway, my ISP is working on it, apparently.

We have identified a problem affecting some gaming traffic causing customers to see increased ping times within the affected games. We will shortly be making some changes which should resolve the problem for these particular games.
They are also having problems with dropped connections and stale sessions, not to mention sync loss and no route to the authentication server.  All in all, I'm pretty pissed off with their recent performance (plus.net) but I can't be bothered to switch.   By the time I go to the support page to open a ticket they have usually acknowledged the problem anyway.  I'd check your ISP support page and if they haven't mentioned the problem raise a ticket.

Its not just you.   I have had 4 CTD since 1.4,  with no erros or lag.  I just crashed cleanly to desktop.  My friend is also having CTD problems.

Since 1.4 I have had 0 CTD's and only 1 connection problem. thats it! wohooooo im satisfied.

Forgot, I did get 1 midgame, but my internet connection had frozen when I got to the desktop, so I'm still giving it the benefit of the doubt.  Weird thing is that it didn't make a dump file for me to send to EA (don't forget to send your dump files and a note to Dice if it happens, so they can fix if it is their fault).

Since I installed 1.4 I have not had a single CTD and I am now so cocky that I click the "Join Now" button as soon as it appears just to see if I can make it crash, which of course I cannot. However, I re-installed the game from scratch and then patched it so this may have something to do with it. I lost all my favorites but that is a small price to pay for such a sweet bug free game. I highly recommend it.

If 1.4 did anything in particular to your entire network then a good download of the latest driver for your Network Card/Nic would be a good idea. Might just be that your driver needs a fresh start.
