First of all, I would like to say hello to everyone here at bf2s.com

Anyway, I hadn't played Battlefield 2 in a while and I decided to try out 1.4.

I downloaded the incremental patch, and bang, Battlefield 2 refused to load. It just waited a second after the splash screen (The Battlefield 2 logo when you run it), a black screen appeared, it changed my resolution and instantly closed and went to the desktop.

Before you suggest something like download 1.4 full or reinstall, I have tried 1.4 full with the same problem and I have reinstalled a countless number of times.

Also, just for the heck of it, I tried running it with +fullscreen 0 and this appeared. Weather or not this has anything to do with my problem, I don't have a clue.

I am really getting annoyed at how EA can't release a patch without fucking it over. If you have got any ideas, please say.

What DX9 version do you have?
How uptodate are your Drivers?

I just thought that, by some divine chance, running it in windowed would maybe work. I never ran in windowed before and I haven't got it. But as you can see, it's a C++ assertion error so it's a problem with EA's coding. And it is in a 1.4 folder so, the ball is in their court.

This happened to me also and I just reinstalled the whole thing and did the "FULL" patch, then I updated my punkbuster manually and I havent had a CTD yet....fingers crossed. Its quite a pain and a time consuming thing....darn EA/Dice.

If it doesnt work.....sorry brother.

Give it a try.

I have got the latest drivers and DX, and anyway, I don't think that error has crap all to do with my main problem

I've uninstalled, reinstalled and patched many times and it hasn't worked yet. I will try and see if PB is causing this problem/

Update:
Sorry, PB hasn't fixed it. I'm heading off to sleep soon, I really, truely, absolutely, hate ea.
