Buy it anyway, is BF2 (or BF2142) the only game you play/will play?Tunacommy wrote:
The reason I wanted to know was I am buying a new monitor - and if I could get a wider FOV supported by the game, then I would spend the extra $$ for wide screen - otherwise, I will stick with normal size....I think that was the real point of the post.DoctorFruitloop wrote:
If widescreen support is implemented in BF2142 it will just be to fit the screen, not to increase the FOV. As has already been said this is just the BF2 (hell when installed some of the folders are called BF2) so I can't see an increase FOV being included.
It would be a nice addition, don't get me wrong, but given EA and DiCE's track record, a wider FOV would probably allow you to see around corners or through buildings or some other screw up.
What I would like to see is multiple monitor support so that you could have the map open on your seconf monitor rather than it getting in the way but I can't see that ever being included any time soon.
Why the hell would anyone be interested in getting a wide screen only so they can stretch the same FOV that everyone else has? That would make the image look lame.
So, thanks for answering the question....don't bother with wide screen because there is no FOV advantage.
Thinking that dual monitor support would also not be something they would not be interested if you are buying the "that would be an advantage" argument....because it would. Although, I would do it.
Just like a corporation buys political clout....the guy with the most $$ wins.
edit: added "not"
There are MUCH better games out there that aren't as bug-ridden, with much better graphics that actually support wide screens. You should try some...
