Hi there

I just bought the game and I want to create a member name but if I try to type letters like (.) (-) (space) (_) combined with a name nothing happens..!

I have tried ALT+different numbers - nothing works and I can see other people have use these letters.

Does anyone know how to write these letters??

or does it say the unique nick is already in use?

If you mean letters like

Then those have to be put in the Prefix. To put THOSE in, go to

My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles

and open the Global.CON file with notepad. In the "set prefix" line there will be two quotes:

""

put the desired tag inbetween those quotes. Only 6 characters. Save, open BF2, enjoy.

Hi again

majorassult - no I was told I don't need gamespy so I skip this during installation.

When I try to type a member name like Jesus-dk or Thomas_Chr then the - and _ don't appear on the screen, only normal letters so the screen shows Jesusdk and ThomasChr.

I have seen a lot of other members use - * # () combined with the names they chose. I have newer had problems with my keyboard typing different letters.

ExecutionerStyle : The problems occurs when I make my official member name during "sign up for a new member" so I don't think I can just change the namer after I have signed up with another name?

The sign up for new member thing might be for an ea account.....then once you create the account you create the bf2 name.  I might be wrong tho.

We are talking BF 2 and I am not allowed to type - or _ * # and so on. only normal letters.

If you watch these names on this link you can see that they use all kinds of letters.

Maybe this is the problem. If you're not looking for anything really unusual why not just use shift and the right key instead of trying to type the ASCII code?

I have an underline in both my main accounts, another with a hyphen, and as you mention there are many alternate characters in existing players' account names so they're definitely accepted.

You can't have a space within your player name in case you didn't know.

You can't use that to create a new profile, or to edit an existing one.

How about just creating a name with out those?
