Ok, nothing from EA exists on my computer.

1) install bf2
2) Patch?  Install SF?
3) Install EF and AF?
4) If not patched in step 2, patch now?

Install BF2
Install SF/EF/AF
Do the patch, it will automatically patch SF(don't know about EF and AF, dont have that.)

you need to have patch 1.3 before putting AF/EF on...

I went this route...

BF2
Special Forces (which patches itself to 1.12 (i think))
then install full patch 1.4
EF
then AF
Had to install patch 1.4 again.

bit of a pain having to put 1.4 on twice BUT... sorted - no probs at my end. No more CTD's

Install BF2
See if SF will let you install it or if it asks for a higher version.
Patch 1.4 if necessary
Install SF
Patch 1.4 if not already done
Install EF
Install AF
Patch 1.4

I think that's the root, but everyone has different installation routes and it depends on the version of you BF2 and other stuff.

Just try it and see.

U should be able to install BF,SF,EF,AF and patch last. It should do everything at once. just be sure to use 1.4 Full

You're not able to patch last, because EF&AF both needs higher versions then 1.1 to install and both don't have the patch included. Special Forces got 1.1 included.

Therefore the best sequence is:

BF2
BF2:SF (Automatically patches up to 1.1)
Patch 1.4 (Full)
BF2:EF (Needs either 1.2 or higher, no patch included)
BF2:AF (Needs 1.3 or higher, no patch included)
Patch 1.4 (Full)

Like I said,

Patch 1.4 if necessary
Install SF
Patch 1.4 if not already done
Install EF
Install AF
Patch 1.4
If your version of BF2 is new enough to already be a high enough version, SF will let you install straight from a fresh installation of BF2, otherwise you will need to patch BF2 up to at least whatever SF is asking.

And EF and AF both require higher versions, EF 1.22 I think, and AF 1.3, so you might as well patch to 1.4 then, install EF and AF, and then patch to 1.4 again.

BF2:SF doesn't care about the version you've got installed, if 1.0 is installed and you install SF you got 1.1 afterwards. If you got 1.4 already installed and you install SF you got 1.1 afterwards.

BF2:SF always patches up/down to 1.1 no matter what was previously installed.

@ ABCBass

Your sequence won't work!

Actually I stand corrected, now that I think about it. It was EF that had teh problem with the version number, not SF.

Sorry.

So it should be

BF2
SF
Patch 1.4
EF
AF
Patch 1.4

That sound right to everyone else?

Yep, that's what you put origianlly fierce, sorry to contradict. I'm an idiot.

I called EA tech support yesterday.  Here is their recommendation:

1. Install BF2
2. Install SF
3. Patch 1.4
4. Install Euroforce
5. Patch 1.4 again
6. Install Armor Fury
7. Patch 1.4 again

It worked for me besides AF, i didn't have it then.

Ended up having to reinstall bf2/patch/SF/patch then it worked fine.

@Boots
Man, i would say fuck around with it till u get it. It seems everyone has their own way that works.

I had BF2 and SF installed and patched at 1.3 . The FULL 1.4 patched straight over the top with absolutely no problems what so ever. I know there have been probs with the incrementals before so don't bother with them!

Ok I got one...
I install BF2, then try to run SF, which , as stated before, patches to 1.1 by itself. But not with me it won't...I get the Patching Failed over and over and over again...so I try ways around it...like first installing 1.4 then SF and 1.4 again...Lagging like no one has lagged before...in singleplayer!!!!
What to do now?

Win....its amazing to me how good so many of you can be with computers, and everyone is still confused by installing the damn game.

The 1.41 patch is a patch for SF AF and EF as well.  Install everything then patch it. Thats all it take.

but ef and af need a higher version, than the version of sf.

so:

bf2
sf
1.41
ef
af
1.41

is absolutely fail safe.

Really? I think I remember that EF at least needs v1.3.
You need to patch twice anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter if you do so prior to EF.

No it doesn't matter, you can do it just to be sure but I know I didn't and it worked.
