I am looking at buying the following car from a nearby dealer.....

I have had a BMW, Lotus and currently drive a Misubishi Evo VIII but have never bought a classic replica before........anyone know of any potential problems I should look for before I shell out £23,000??

Looks fantastic, and 5.7 litre engine in a car that small has got to be great fun..... but stick with the Evo!

Well it's not going to be a daily driver. If you're going to buy it for that maybe you should a honda(not too sure of English/Bristish cars).

For £23000 that looks fucking awsome
Only problem i can think of is parts for it due to the Chevy V8 (not really a common engine in the UK)

That and we don't exactly get enough of the weather to take advantage of it. If it's a second car then yeah go for it, but as a daily user I'd still stick with the Evo.

The 350 c.i. (5.7 litre) is an awsome motor almost bullett proof.  The only thing I would be concerend about would be the the availability of repair parts.  I have no idea how easily you can come across things like starters, delco-trons, carb rebuild kits and the such.  Also, what make is the carberator?  If it is a stock GM model it is more than likely a quadrajet, which is a bad-ass carb if it is set up right.  I know here in Indiana it is hard to find someone who can tune carbs worth a crap anymore.  If you can't do it yourself,  you could be out of luck.  Looks like a sweet car, I would say buy the thing

Turbo back exhaust, 'high-flow' cat, retune the onboard ECU, and she's good to go.

The Evo is my company car....it was either the Evo or a Merc and I hate Mercedes.

The Cobra will be my "pissin about" car.....I made over £100k profit when I sold my last house so I thought I would buy myself a proper 31st birthday present......haven't told the wife yet though

I'm gonna buy it.....I'll worry about the parts when the time comes......you only live once!!

I have the 5.7 litre V8 in my 95' Caprice, it's a sweet motor. It's the LT1 version though, not sure if the one in that car is, or if they are the same or whatever. All I know is that my 5.7 litre V8 has 260hp and 330 ft/lb of torque. It'll take off quicker than basically any car in my area.

So yeah, the engine in it is good, if you like it, give er'!

You should not by a Ford or a reproduction Ford with a POS small block chevy in it.  Order you a new one from Factory 5.  Hell you can get them with a big block ford 460 if you want a death ride.  But fords with chevy motors are like chicks with dicks.  Never should have happened.

Jesus H. Christ man..... you rich or summin?    "Sure lets throw 20,000 smackers on the table, I want that car"

Well if you can afford I always say go for it....   But then I still have to make sure I've got enough money for my bills, gas, insurance, food.....  occasionally I can indulge myself in buying a DVD or summin for my comp...

I'm with RTG.  Yes it's a replica car, and yes the 5.7L (350 cid to us yanks) is a good motor, but the 427 Cobra got its name because it had a 427 cid Cobra Jet engine in it.

But hey, it's your money, do with it as you see fit.

there is nothing more to be said on the matter, at most you order a gt-40 with a mazda rotary, or even the occasional jag 12 cyl/with stromberg down-drafts (best mod I've ever seen, and it was in an Anglia delivery wagon no less), but if you order ford with a chevy plant you deserve to be kicked squarely in the scrotum. You can get just as much power out of a smaller and more fuel/weight efficient Ford 5.0 or even the newer 4.6 as that gm lump. If you do decide to go big block definitely stick with the shelby powerplants, your neighbors will hate you, and even an original 40 year old AC with a 427 can punch 60 mph in less than 4 seconds.

The factory 427 rc still holds a record for the fastest from 0 to 100 mph to 0 in under 13 seconds built in the 60s  Kind of cool.

oooooooooo, nice mota (evo and cobra). Fuckit  buy the cobra and if you don't like it sell it, no biggie you wont loose that much. Ever thought about a replica gt 40, there a south african company that sells them for around 40 grand and you could get a nice 2nd hand one for 23, maybe. How about a porche? Bit dated interior wise but good fun if you can drive. OR how about an m5, not the new new one but a 2000-2004 model. I've heard them with performance exhausts and a forced air induction kit and they sound awesome, like a fucking spitfire man! OR a 1970 mustang, i think they did a superboss 429(?) with a 7 litre v8 and that would handle like shit but go like a motherfucker. Ever thought of a brabus?, you said you dont like mercs but a bi-turbo v12 might change your mind and again, it would shift. Pricey servicing though. If you do get a cobra dont listen to people who say parts are rare, if your willing to shop around the parts are out there and failing that you can buy a brand new v8 in a crate for not too silly money. Fuck the wife off and get a  500bhp tuned up ford v8 for about 10000 pounds, its a blueprint jobby so itd be sweet. What ever you get we wanna see pics, or even a vid. Fair play man.
