it's not, some nub discovered that if you right click it brings up a list of things to spot, so they decided to spam "Enemy Boat Spotted" in karkand.

When I rarely do spot one though, I won't blow it up but pretend I didn't see it. They're too cool... except on Wake.

Yes i think it's funny and yes i do it, but then I'm part of a real clan. We're all friends who know each other and live locally (not some sort of PM ME TO JOIN US!!!! Clan which would then be full of people trying to validate their lives... but back on topic) As it is we mainly joke with each other and generally thats why we say things like 'enemy boat spotted'. I mean, if your not playing with people you know and can laugh with over TS... then why would you bother? Are you ust amusing yourself? So yeah, 'Enemy boat spotted' is a classic... in fact I have to remmeber to email spam it around work tomorrow
