since installing patch 1.4 (inc) bf2 wont run

after dbl clicking the shortcut, the red bf2 screen comes up, then it goes black, then desktop

You probably have a dead battery. Do you leave anything on overnight or for an extended period of time?

I suggest you get a friendly neighbor to drive over and jump start it for you.

Ive heard on this forum a few times that clearing out your bf2 cache or something in your my Documents folders helps. please DONT TAKE MY WORD ABOUT THIS because im not certain about it. Although, you could always uninstall bf2 reinstall it and get the full 1.4 patch

Yeah, had this problem since 1.3, and you can patch all day over the current install but it won't work. You have to uninstall and make sure all the directories are gone and re-install. It's a pain in the ass, but in the end it's worth it. My fresh install with 1.4 has been flawless so far (3+ hours w/o problems).

What do you mean?
Did your BF crasch and it was because of Internet Explorer???

What could be wrong it bf crasch during loding of the map???
It happen in the middle of Geometry loading???
It worked good with 1.3. Drivers are new and bf is reinstalled today?????

It could have been cause u removed those intro mvies with the patch they put in a module so that it wont start without the intro movies
They did this cause they knew ervy1 removed/Renamed them so that u wouldnt toss awya the hours of work they put into those vids

Rename your exe file back to BF2.exe then run the patch again.

btw to take away intro movies just add -restart in the command line of your shortcut or in your batch file.
