Well since this is the thread that refused to die!!! Badhq, I did your little fix for the connecting to server... worked great!+1

As for the unzipping the common_client and objects_client thing... kinda helped the load time a bit but no effect on the verifying.

I searched the net about this and found that I need another gig of ram and a faster hard drive! My prob... My mobo will only take 1gig of ram

I think EA should raise the min requirements for bf2!
Think about it, they use verifying to stop hackers-padders but don't you think that someone who can afford the top-of-the-line computer could be a stat padder because they get first dibs on vehicles...etc
I know it's a streatch but dang. I have a family to support... can't just go buy a new computer!

ok, I'm done!

verifying client data isnt a procedure to prevent from cheating. That does punkbuster. The verification process shall only make sure that client / server files are the same to run without any complication.

Play on servers that have time delay before start of game, or have very little map rotation.  Those 30 seconds start delays do keep me from stealing enemy armor at the start of the game.

But on subject, your MB only supports 1GB max or 2 sticks max?  I doubt you have the 1GB max limit.  Decent 2x1GB sticks are fairly cheap these days.  For BF2, 2GB of average RAM will be better than 1GB of fast RAM.

my bad.

My mobo takes 1gb max of ram.
2 slots.
If it will take 2gb then the specs are wrong.
VIA chipset 266mh (I think)
AMD athlon 2400 32bit processor
2- 512mb ram
200watt power supply
geforce 6800 128mb (nice card unfortunatly can't get full effects from it)
Well, you get the idea... my puter sucks. It will run bf2 though!!!

Wow.  Totally surprised you can run BF2 with that rig.  1GB is probably the limit.  But you might also want to look at the MB makers website to see if there is an updated firmware that will support more than 1GB.  But with a 266 RAM setup, not sure...

theres somethin fishy there tho, verifying should go faster than loading a map basically its just pingin the server and then recieves a clear to go rite?

i think the problem is crappy programmers over at EA/Dice.

those are just your other accounts. If you have allot of favorites in each of them... may want to do it to each one. Your main account prolly has more though. 0001 should be your main account.

Ok here is a stumper for you all. i have a AMD 3200 with a gig of ram. I had crappy load times so i went out and bought another gig of ram. so now i have 2 gigs of rams on my AMD 64 3200.  So here i am 8 weeks later being one of the first into the game and have one smothly running game and now all of the sudden i am back to a 3+ minute verifying data time. I am always last to get into the game. I have an IDE hard drive but it is fully defragmented. I have stopped every other piece of software on my machine.

Not me - I go for ages man!

Yeah no I used to have short Verifying Client Data times, but lately it's gone through the roof. Not only do I rarely get a pwnage vehicle, sometimes they even start without me! Might be time for that second GB of RAM...

Ok, I have to ask. I see allot of posts on tweeks and people making changes to code to get things working smoothly.
Has anyone figured out a way to even slightly speed up the Verifying Client Data thing? (other than upgrading ram)
Am I missing something? What exactly is it verifying?
Might wanna stop dling all that porno

j/k

probs because BF2 is a couple gigs big

try a defrag/clearing out unnecessary stuff/anti virus/anti spyware maybe? Your PC should be able to handle is fairly well. BF2 does load slowly. It also loads of time on mine. Yay for crap coding!
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Just upgrade to 2GB.  From 2-3 minutes to 15 seconds.

I searched to no avail. If I missed it along the way, sorry.
From what I remember, "Verifying Client Data" is the time the system searches for external programs (cheats, etc.).  The less you have on your HDD, the quicker it is.

So How much is it for a Gig of Ram? 50 USD?

I may be way off, but I was under the assumption that RAM wouldn't really make a difference.  Get some RAID HD's, and you should load waaay faster.  I've seen with others that who use the same amount of ram, but switched to a RAID hd, that loading becomes almost instantaneous...

I'm going to try RAM first. Because the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard I payed for shouldn't need a 500 GB Hardrive or a 1 TB hardrive. I'm going to get another Gig of Ram. Thanks though man much appreciation to you. But anyways does Verizon suck? I only have 2 Major Games on my computer. BF2, and Americas army. And also even though this is off of the main topic. When I load my computer up it says Pri Master Hardisk/Drive (don't remember) Status: Bad, Replace and Backup. Anyhelp? Or do I just need to do what it says? Back it up and Replace?
