hey guys, i went on last night, and i lost my connection 3 times in a row. ever since the patch installed, its been doing this. a norton box keeps popping up in the corner saying stuff that has nothing to do with bf2, then it freezes the game for like 2 seconds and i lose my connection. maybe just need to shut norton off

i hate norton

It's not your Norton. I'm getting the same issue and I don't have Norton or any other stuff running while I play. Just BF2, and I still disconnect, in fact: 3 times in a row today

I get the same problems every now and then.. I thin kit has to do with either the gaming servers or the way they patched the game.. Because before the patch I never got connection problems.

You are not alone . Since the patch there have been lots of connection issues, pre patch, bf2 ran like a dream with only one or two glitches. I run a firewall and AV software and before the patch, no problems, after patch, no problems with FW/AV, but a few connection hitches.
I guess we'll just have to see if these'll get resolved

me too and I dont even leave my IM's running in the background.  All since this patch.  I love the patch for advancing me 3 ranks and unlocking 4 weapons but, other than that it kinda bites!

ok i was getting
1: buzzing noise while game freezes for about 20 secs then loss of connection
2: random loss of connection
3: long loading times
4: randomly "optimizers shaders"

i decided to put my graphics card back to standard clock speeds.

and presto...i dont have a trouble in the world now.

edit: its a 6800 gt and i always ran everything on high with 4xAA and still run it the same after de-overclocking it.

I've noticed a lot of Players being binned mid game and it seems to happen in batches of green writing top left, so I guess that their connection (to the game server) must have been lost too. The amount of times I've tried to revive someone who has left the game, only to be taken out (shot) whilst trying to help. The question Ryan is posing could be put as, what would cause a loss of connection? Is it Server side or something specific on our *insert monster spec 'puter* machine. Lowering the graphics as mentioned before seems to help but why?

When you pick your Server in the browser ,have you noticed whether the vertical bar on the left is Green or Red which shows the load on the Server. Is this indicative of the chances you might be binned (annoyingly) mid game?

Mind you saying that, my biggest problem is still avoiding getting pwd!!

I've always had these problems, even before the patch. After the patch they have become LESS frequent for me though.
It involves my game freezing for a couple of seconds out of nowhere, and then me losing my connection.

Everyone should post their computer specs to see if we all have anything in common - also divulge thou brand of networking equipment if you use a router or anything like that. I'll start first, I s'pose...

PSU: Aspire 520 W
CPU: Pentium 4 3.2 GHZ w/ HT Tech.
GPU: GeForce MX 5900 Ultra
RAM: Kingston Value RAM 1 gig 400 MHZ (PC 3200, 2.6 V)
MOBO: Intel Desktop Board D875PBZ
HDD (Pri.): Seagate Barracuda, 120 GIG
HDD (Sec.): Western Digital Raptor, 74 GIG (BF2 Installed Here)
Networking Brand: Linksys (Wireless - G Broadband Router & Wireless - G PCI Adapter)

Uhm...I went really specific, so uh...if you can't be as exact as I was...I think that's okay.

Ahoy,
