My friend's letting me use his Fileplanet account. He said he might wanna do the beta, I just nabbed the key and I havn't used it yet.

I'm downloading right now though.

I'm thinking of either just using it...

or waiting until the beta closes again and going with the "even if I didn't use it then he wouldn't have gotten in"

Just ask your friend whether he wants you to have the key or not.  Otherwise you are taking advantage of his trust.  Trust me, the beta aint worth losing a friend over.....

Believe me. The beta sucks so much. Just give your friend the key and you'll be able to hear him bitch and moan about how he had to pay money for fileplanet and all he got was that crappy beta. That is actually more fun than playing the beta.
