im not too familiar with graphic cards, i think my pc is running Radeon X300 and it can just about run BF2 (all lowest graphic settings) so i figured i better upgrade it for 2142. but im looking for a fairly cheap graphic card that will run it pretty smoothly.

thankyou in advance.

BF2142 uses the same engine so if you run them on low at BF2 it'll be the same on BF2142, maybe a bit jerkier.

if you have a pci-express motherboard, id suggest getting the evga 7600 gt. Its a great card for the price (around 150$) and plays bf2 with everything maxed out great.

if youre not sure what kind of video card you have, i wouldnt recommend trying to upgrade it.

on your own at least.

At least you can upgrade, i'm stuck with this Radeon 9600 because of my 250-watt power supply.

7600 GS is the best you can do with AGP I believe.

A 7950 GX2 would be better.

A 7600 would see you playing on high/meds, a 7900 would see you nicely enough on high.
A decent 6800 would be fine as well giving you medium graphics.

And yes don the 7950 GX2 gives about 60-70 fps in normal play, drops down to 30ish though when you get out of a pod....

Do you have one? I would have expected a bit more than 30ish outta a pod though. If it drops to that outta a pod whats it like in the titan. Lol hardly worth the £400 then!

Yea, I'm not sure why it drops that low, it's most likely caused by all the particles when you hit the ground in a pod. Oh and in the titans I get about the same 60-70 fps, just the stupid pods that seem to drop it.

Oh and I didn't pay £400 for it, got it free, of my good friend the insurance man.

And while I'm typing does anyone know how to make the resolution of 2142 go up to 1280 x 1024, tried changing the video settings but that didn't seem to work...

EDIT:
hmm, so it appears it helps if you turn the gfx card fans on full bore instead of on "silent"

I'm willing to bet my laptop's underclocked Geforce Go 7600 will run it with medium settings.
