Keep in mind, Even in the Beta, It was saying Names were already taken, It was probably a Bug / Glitch, Besides, If you read, I think it says the Veterans thingy is Tied to your EA Account.

My BF2 name is "[OHG]JdeFalconr" and I tried entering just "JdeFalconr" for the BF2142 name but it said that it was already in use in BF2. Wacky. Anyway I tried "OHG_JdeFalconr" which was exactly 14 chars, the max, and it worked! So apparently underscores work, just not a bunch of the other special characters. I hope I can change that 2142 name...I don't like the way that came out, but at least it worked.

FFS so if there is a player in BF2 with your desired nick, even if they have $#^@ing 100 global pts, you can't pick that nick.
