If I have to put a top 5 list:
1-Black Hawk Down stil first.
2-Full Metal Jackets
3-Das Boot
4-Apocalypse Now
5- Platoon
Another good movie is Casualties of war.
I think Saving Private Ryan, except for the first half hour, isn't a good movie at all, with several mistakes, f.e. did you notice that Spielberg made a scene with the camera entering by old Ryan eyes, and then the action appears in the beaches of Normandy. Cmon, Ryan was at that moment in the middle of France, he never was at Normandy.
Another dude mentioned Pearl Harbor, that's a love story.
If you want to stick to the classic don't forget Dirty Dozen. Many great actors all in one movie.
