I need a good graphics card that will allow me to play bf2 very well. What do you guys use?

I run an ATI Radeon x300 (not that good unless you like all low settings and 25 FPS!), but I've heard word that the 7600's and up can run it well.

I'd suggest a 7900GT for you. That should give you great graphics and FPS to spare.

all depends on you budget, although the x1900xt's are going pretty cheap lately for 299 i believe, which is a damn good deal, but the 7900gt is nice too.

i run an x800xt with 2 gig of system ram, and can run most everything on high with turning some lighting/dynamic shadows to low/medium, and get about 50-70fps on most maps, down to about 40 on crowded maps.

Up until last weeknd i was running an agp x800pro and it ran fine, with some stuff turned down to medium (ran fine with both 1 or 2 GBs of Ram). Switching to pci-e i got a 7950gx2 which everything smashed to the top with ease.

I am the very happy new owner of a The NVIDIA® GeForce® 7950 GX2

Not a 256 0r a 512.... it's a GIG graphics card! it's pritty chunky, but it
has 2 processors in it.

I run BF2 at all it's maximum.... and ready for Vista and the next gen games like Crysis.

Plan ahead and get something good now!

I am running (2) 6600GT in SLI and I am getting great performance and great FPS.  I have all the settings turned up to max and am running 4X anti-aliasing and no issues to speak of and great resolution.  My recs are to get a good graphics card w/at least 256MB vid memory and you should be able to run BF2 very smoothly.  I would recommend anthing from the Nvidia side 6600 series and up.   On the ATI side I would recommend the X1300 and up series the 1300 series would be best suited for someone on a budget and still wanting better performance.

If the 7900GT is too expensive then go for the 6800GT, no need to go down to the 6600GT.

Some of you guys really need to read up on how graphics cards work. The amount of memory that they have usually doesn't mean anything. Its chipsets, pipelines, GPU and RAM clk frequencies, and other stuff that matter. Go here and read the 3 "Beginners Guides to GFX Cards":

Dude, spend some time reading this page. . .

http://www.tomshardware.com/graphics/index.html

There is a bunch of good information if you spend the time digging around.  You are better of informing yourself and finding the best thing for you.

Some stuff around the 200 dollar mark here in the U.S. is :

X1800XT
X1900GT
X850XT

-or-

7600GT
7600GS
6800XT

Good luck, U.K. Prices are just jacked up from the already inflated U.S. Prices, I feel for your pain.  I had to get some parts when I was in Leeds last year, YE-OUCH!!!  But check out that website.  Information is more helpful than any forum.

yea so buying any top end DX9 card atm would be pointless if DX10 cards are gonna be much better, for the same pricepoint...

You didn't say if you need AGP or PCI-Express..... however, if it is the former.....

This could be your lucky day!!!!

I have a BFG 7800GS OC 256MB AGP4/8X card which is for sale, I have been waiting to borrow a digital camera so I can get it on eBay. Here are some others that are currently for sale on eBay:

http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search. … fg+7800+gs

If you are interested in an AGP card then this one of the fastest cards that is likely to be available on the AGP bus.... Period!

I will consider offers!!!!

btw,

I'm currently running:

Intel 805D (Dual Core) @ 3.3Ghz (Stock cooler but not for long!!!)
Asus P5WD2 E Premium Mobo
2x 1GB OCZ DDR2 800mhz Special Ops Edition
ATI x1900xt Crossfire Master
WD 74GB Raptor
SB Live!
19" CRT
Thermaltake Soprano Case
8Mb ADSL
Stealth42o
