hey guys could someone please explain to me what things like raid and sata etc are i know they are to do with ure hard drive but im a bit lost in what they all are

SATA and SATA-II (SATA2) is a type of drive. Old drives use "IDE" connections, newer drives use SATA. SATA-II is another version of SATA.

RAID is basically a collection of drives (2+) that gives less faults (usually) and higher performance. There are different RAID setups, RAID 0, RAID 0+1, RAID101 etc..

raid: In computing, the acronym RAID (originally redundant array of inexpensive disks, now also known as redundant array of independent disks) refers to a data storage scheme using multiple hard drives to share or replicate data among the drives.

SATA: In computer hardware, Serial ATA (SATA, IPA: /ˈsæta/ or /ˈseɪˌtə/) is a computer bus technology primarily designed for transfer of data to and from a hard disk. It is the successor to the legacy AT Attachment standard (ATA). This older technology was retroactively renamed Parallel ATA (PATA) to distinguish it from Serial ATA. Both SATA and PATA drives are IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) drives, although IDE is often misused to indicate PATA drives.

Hmmm sata2 not sure really, i think its just faster

Edit: SATA 2 is actually SATA 3.0
